"We're smiling but we're close to tears
even after all these years
we still now got the feeling
That we're meeting
For The first time"

For The First time-The Script.

A/N: Ok, so I had a little conversation with Asonginmyhead (ruling queen of Doom/Jasmine...there are many monarchs in Deltora) ages ago about well...Doom/Jasmine, so Asonginmyhead, This is for you! I've combined my newfound love of AU with the 'pairing'. Anyway let's begin! :)

Jasmine sat tensely on the park bench but then, that was nothing new. She liked that park, especially when her foster mother found fault with her and exploded. She smiled to herself at the thought.

She glanced over at the car park, and Marilen nodded back. Evidently, she was there to make sure she didn't bolt; which she would have done gladly, had she not had a peculiar feeling of vague hope. Vague being the key word.

This wasn't the first time she'd waited for him. She'd lost count of the number of times she'd sat at the window, waiting. Waiting for what always seemed like forever... sometimes, it was. Jasmine started nibbling on her lip. Apparently, her mother had done it.

"Are you hungry Jasmine?"

Jasmine did not answer, but kept her gaze fixed on the driveway.

Marilen bit her lip and glanced at the clock on the wall.

6 o' clock... he'd said he'd be there at 12.

"I've made sausage and chips with bean for tea, and there's fresh fruit and yoghurt for pudding...I could go get some ice-cream from Tesco if you like," Marilen recited this menu hoping for some kind of reaction from the girl.

It was her special comfort food. Jasmine hated the thought that Marilen felt she needed comforting.

"We're going out for supper. He said."

Marilen nodded and returned to the kitchen. Several minutes later a plate of food was set at Jasmine's side. It remained untouched.

It was still untouched several hours later, while Jasmine remained at the window, her large green eyes still open, unblinking.

This time, he promised.

Jasmine didn't care what Marilen said. He was coming. He promised.

She didn't wait on the window ledge this time, instead she settled herself on the sofa, with some homework, and a clock.

Marilen sat with her, watching Eastenders*, but making little to no conversation.

Jasmine knew what she was thinking. She was wrong. She knew she was. Any second now, a car would roll up the driveway.

Jasmine stopped biting her lip and moved onto her nail.

Any second now.

10 minutes, 30minutes, an hour...

Any second...

Jasmine looked over at Marilen and shook her head. She wasn't going to wait again.

Any...

She grabbed her bag, and walked over to the car park.

A small blue car pulled into a nearby space and stopped abruptly. Someone stepped out. Jasmine furrowed her brow.

"Don't stare Jasmine" said Marilen sharply. Jasmine ignored her, and took a few nervous steps towards the man. She knew who it was.

"Jasmine?" he whispered.

Jasmine looked up at him and her eyes watered a little.

She did not know what was going to happen. Maybe she'd fallen asleep on the bench. She slipped her fingers into her fathers hand.

It could turn out worse than it already was...

It could be better...

She would have to wait and see.

A little short, but I'm lazy and there was little else I could add really. Hope you liked it!
