Dear Professor Oak

An unknown soldier from the Great Pokémon War writes a letter to the Pokémon Professor, Samuel Oak. What is the significance of this letter? Who wrote it? Why did they write it? Where is he now? No one knows for sure. However, rumor has it that there is one person who may hold the key to unlocking the mystery behind the Great Pokémon War and this letter.

27 February 19XX

Dear Samuel Oak,

It's hard to believe, but the war is over. I'm fixing to get home but I have a few more things to take care of in Johto. Hopefully the rest of the Gym Leaders will be returning sooner than I am. I know that Lance has already gone back to Kanto and Watson is boarding his plane to Hoenn as I am writing this. I am confused as to what became of the generals though. As you may already know, Blanche and Spark cooperated against Candela, but all three of them have mysteriously disappeared. What's even stranger, last night I heard a loud shriek and went outside to see what appeared to be the Three Legendary Birds flying in circles over Mount Silver. Something has happened, I am sure of it. In other news, I came across a strange Pokémon, not native to Kanto, that was stranded in an alleyway. When it saw me, it cried and wrapped its arms around my leg. It was evident that it was starving, and its trainer had likely abandoned it. I fed it, and captured it, as I could not bear to see a Pokémon suffering the way it was. It was small and weak, but I will train it and use it against challengers at the Gym.

I don't know exactly how long I will remain in Johto, it should only be for a few days. I will be returning to Pallet Town very soon though, to see how far you've come in your research. I heard Blue will be beginning his Gym Leader Challenge soon. I look forward to facing him in battle. After all, the grandson of the former Kanto League Champion is sure to be an admirable trainer.

One more thing. Dr. Fuji said he was working on something very important. He didn't tell me what it was, but I am fairly certain that it has to do with Amber. He's become a workaholic ever since she died and his wife left him, I feel sorry for the poor old man. Whatever he's working on is probably sinister, but I wish him luck anyway. As I do you in your research on Pokémon Evolution.
