"Dean?" "Yeah Cas?" Castiel watched Dean as Dean sipped his beer on the couch. "There's something I want to see," Castiel stated.

Dean turned and looked at him with his forest green eyes.

"And what's that?" he questioned, his voice gravely. "Well, it's the fourth of July. In America that is a holiday," Castiel said. "It's Independence Day," Dean mumbled, turning away again. "Yes," Castiel said. "On this day there is typically a display in the sky with fire and explosives." "You mean fireworks?" Dean asked. "Yes. I'd like to see those," Castiel tells Dean. "Alright," Dean shrugs. He stands and finishes his beer in one gulp. "Let's go watch the fireworks in town." "What are those?" Castiel pointed towards a small box. "Sparklers," Dean explained with a small smile. "You light the end and it has colorful little sparks on the end." "Wouldn't that be dangerous?" Castiel asked. Dean chuckled. "No, Cas. Not unless you get too close to someone with the lit end," he said. "What can I get you?" the girl working the concession stand asked, looking at Castiel with a flirty look. She had blue eyes that were almost as blue as Castiel's. Her dirty blonde hair was up in a messy bun and her smile was contagious to everyone except Dean. "Two boxes of sparklers," Dean said loudly, pulling her attention off of Castiel. "Any specific color?" she asked, checking Dean out. "Green and blue," Dean said, rolling his eyes. She walked over to the sparklers and Castiel turned to Dean. "You don't have to be so upset Dean," he said, cocking his head to the side. "She doesn't have to check us both out," Dean stated simply. "Well it's not every day I have two handsome men walk up to my stand," the blonde said, suddenly standing in front of them again causing Dean to jump. "Plus, I don't know either of you so I can look curiously." Dean blinked at her while Castiel smiled and took the sparklers. "Thank you." Castiel told her then asked, "How much?" "One dollar," she smiled back. Dean handed her a dollar and pulled Castiel away. Castiel heard her mumble as they walked away, "They're definitely a thing." "When will they start," Castiel asked Dean, holding up another green sparkler with a big smile plastered on his face. "After the National Anthem," Dean smirked. "What are the words to that?" Castiel asked, tilting his head. "You don't have to sing it. Just stand up and put your hand over your heart," Dean explained. "Oh," Castiel said, looking around. Dean smiled at him. "Don't worry Cas. You'll love the fireworks. I promise." Castiel visibly relaxed in his chair and got a content smile on his face. "Did you and Sam watch fireworks as children?" Castiel asked. "Once," Dean smiled, remembering a young Sammy laughing as Dean lit fireworks while their dad was hunting one year. Castiel smiled and opened his mouth to say something when the announcer asked everyone to rise for the Pledge of Allegiance. After the pledge and a moment of silence, the National Anthem began. At the very end of the last note, the fireworks began. Castiel watched in amazement. There were greens and blues and reds and silvers exploding in the sky. Castiel's smile got wider and wider the longer he watched. As the grand finale shot into the sky, Dean and everyone else started cheering. "Come on Cas!" Dean yelled over the crowd and loud booms made by the fireworks, "Like this!" Dean put his hands around his mouth, creating a megaphone, and yelled out a big woo. Castiel tilted his head again before giving it a try. "Woooo!" Castiel yelled out, causing Dean to throw his head back and laugh. "Was that right?" Castiel asked, confused. "Yeah, Cas," Dean smiled, staring into Castiel's bright blue eyes with awe. "It was perfect."
