Disclaimer: I don't own anything. Well i own somethings... but i don't own these two. I like to play around with them and see what happens. If i owned them, this wouldn't happen :P

She watched as his face contorted, and he let out a small cry. Her heart constricted painfully in her chest and she lay down a little closer to him, wrapping her arms around him as best she could. Night after night she wished she could chase the nightmares away, before he got like this, before he starting hurting. "Wake up," she whispered softly. Stroking a hand down his cheek, "It's okay, wake up,"

His eyes snapped open, and for a moment she caught a glimpse of the terror and pain he went through every night. Then his eyes met hers and the pain faded a little, the terror dissolved. And that was why she stayed, for that reason, not because she loved him, because she liked it when he woke up and found some kind of reassurance in her. If all she did was love him, she wouldn't stay. She would have saved herself the heartache in the long run. But no matter how much it killed her, she could never leave him now, knowing her presence made it the slightest bit better. And she would never ever take that away from him. Every night she wished she could take the nightmares for him, she would suffer through them all night long; she'd do it for him in a heartbeat. But that was impossible, they were his ghosts, not hers, and all she could do was desperately try to chase them away for him, knowing it, she would never be good enough.

"It's okay," she said, "Just a nightmare," she curled into his embrace, breathing in his softness, so thankful, always thankful he allowed her to be with him at times like this.

"I'm sorry," he said, a little shaky,

"Red John?" she asked, and as he nodded, she kissed his forehead.

"I don't deserve you," he said, shaking off the nightmare and pulling her into him, wrapping his own arms round her gently.

"I don't deserve you," she said, smiling at the warmth he provided.

"No, you deserve much more," he whispered.

"What was it about this time?" she asked gently,

"You," he said quietly, and he didn't have to say anymore, she understood, and it scared her a little.

"We'll be fine," She said,

"Do you really believe that?"

"Yes," she whispered, "Are you okay?"

"You make it bearable, Teresa,"

Yes, she thought, but I don't make them go away.

"Nothing would make them go away," he said, reading her mind. He kissed her slowly, tenderly, "And you deserve more than I could ever give you."

She disagreed, but he didn't need to know that, if it meant she could stay, she would take it for now.

She smiled as he closed his eyes, a kind of sadness settled over her, again her heart ached for him, as it did every night. One she was sure he was gone again, she let the tears roll down her cheeks. She loved him so much it was hurting her, but that was just another thing he didn't need to know.

It was a bit sad... wasn't it? Sorry Hay :P well i hope you all liked it anyways :)

Please please please review :)
