T'was the Night Before School
T'was the night before school, a night like any other
Not a person was stirring, except for my fairy godmother
My homework was done, and I was almost asleep
Then out she came from under my clothes that were in a great heap.
"Let's go!" she exclaimed happily with a mile-long smile
Before I could say a word we were off through the window in a magical style
"Watch me now," she called with a wave of her wand, "Let it snow!"
Then she dropped me and I yelled out, "Geronimo!"
Falling so gracefully down through the air
I was falling so beautifully, I was falling with flare!
Gently I touched down to the snow-covered ground
Then noticing something, I frowned.
Fairy godmother had forgotten the ice!
With an "Abra kadabra," the ponds and roads looked oh so nice
The frost she had forgotten as well
With yet another wave of her wand the windows looked swell.
Smack! A great snowball hit me right in the face
I threw a snowball back at her, but she just laughed as she turned it into delicate snow lace
More rapid than cheetahs her great snowballs came
"Let's do something else!" I exclaimed, "Please let it be tame."
She thought or a moment, then had an idea
With a push and a roll of the snow she's made her own snow pizzeria!
Then together we made animals, and people too.
Unicorns, pixies, and dragons galore. It was a magical snow animal zoo!
With a twinkling in her eye and a flick of the wrist
All the animals sprung alive and started doing the twist
The dragons did dances from long times past
The unicorns jitterbugged, we were having a blast!
The party went on for hours and hours
Even the nymphs were showing off their flowery powers
The dragons spewed icy fire for all to see
And the pixies were giggling their high pitched "Tee-hee"s.
Suddenly screams of dismay reached my ears
The sun was coming up, and I watched as the others trembled with fear
The dragons stopped smiling, the party was over
The pixies stopped giggling and looked quite sober.
Everyone rushed around me; it was utter high-jinks
The sunrise was beautiful, made of delicate soft pinks
Fairy godmother floated over and whispered to me, "It's time to go."
I wanted to scream, I wanted to shout, "No, no, NO!!!"
She looked at me in an understanding way
As if we weren't in the middle of screaming animals and fey
She took my hand and up we flew
She was taking me home, that for sure I knew.
Through the window again, and me back in my bed
Exhaustion took over, and I laid down my head
Dreams passed through so quickly, like a never-ending joyride
With a noise I woke up, with bedhead and bright-eyed.
"Hey sis! Today's a snow day!" My brother had yelled
The happiness that I felt grew and excelled
The grin on my face then suddenly stopped
The joy I was feeling abruptly popped.
Had it all been a dream?
A horrible prank, or an unkind scheme?
Then I looked out the window and saw a sight that was true
Those snow animals we'd made were as real as me or you.
