Hi! This is just a weird idea I had. I know it's short. Basically, I was in a show recently and backstage was creepy. So I wrote a story about a girl like me having a nightmare set there. Except this nightmare is nothing more. Enjoy!
Lily stumbled through the theatre. A dim blue light lit up the passage backstage. She didn't know what was happening, but there was a sense of panic in her, even so. Maybe it was the audience.
She went back to where everyone else should be. Where were they? "Alex?" she called. No answer.
"Molly?" Still nothing. "If this is a joke, you better come out now! I don't like jokes."
"Are you scared?"
Lily seemed to recognize the dry voice. "Actually, Aria, I am. Are you going to come out now? The show starts in five minutes. 'Purpose' is starting to play already. Annie, you're in costume, right?" She knew Aria preferred to be called Arie, but she was feeling annoyed.
"Arie's not here." the dry voice rasped. "But I am." The voice came from behind her.
Lily whipped around and surveyed the figure standing before her in the blue light. Taller than her. More masculine. A scowl that scared her. A familiar stripy sweater. She didn't have to look at his right hand to know the gleaming razors.
"It's a nightmare!" she screamed. "Krueger!" All she could do was run...out onto the deserted stage. There, she found a discarded packet of Air New Zealand sweets and a globe. She desperately wished she had Kristen's power to pull people into her dreams. Then she thought. "It's my dream! All I can do now to live until I wake up is to fight." She thought herself into it as hard as she could. "I can control all the dreams. I just have to will anything and it will happen."
"The original show has been cancelled, as most of the actors weren't able to be here." Lily immediately let a string of curse words fly through her head as Freddy said this. "Instead, it's a one-on-one murder."
Lily felt powerless. She stared at the shining razor glove, desperately trying to think of an escape plan.
Then, she thought of something that none of Freddy's victims had ever done. They'd run, or fought, but none of them had ever submitted.
She countered with a corny joke back. "The script of the murder is a little dull, dictating that I just stand there and let you kill me."
"It might be a little dull, but we better follow the script." was all she got back. She gulped, and closed her eyes, waiting for the pain, unable to think of another plan. Something sliced her shoulder.
"Lily! Lily! LILY!"
Lily's eyes snapped open. She immediately looked at her shoulder. It still hurt, but there was no blood there, or even a sign of a graze.
"Lily, get dressed!" Alex said. "You're on after the Kappa Kappa Zeta handshake. What's up?"
Lily tried to smile. "Nothing, Alex. Just had a nightmare."
So what do you think of the spin? Freddy was completely in her mind the whole time. Review and tell me, please!
