What could have happened had the elevator doors not opened so soon at the end of "Swan Song".

Together

Tony looked down to the breaking woman in front of him. As he saw the tears threatening to fall from her beautiful eyes, he felt something breaking inside him as well.

He tentatively brushed his fingers along her cheekbone and whispered, "We'll get through this."

Ziva looked up at him and tilted her head slightly. Tony was drawn in by the desperation in her chocolate brown eyes and bent his head. Their lips hovered close together and Tony could feel Ziva's breath on his face. He closed the distance and touched his lips to hers. He placed his hands on the side of her face and kept her close to him while she put her hands on his shoulders to steady herself.

Ziva's mouth opened slightly and Tony pressed his lips against hers harder, more desperate. Her fingers tangled in his hair and his hands slid to her waist. Tony felt a tear slip onto his cheek and they pulled apart.

Ziva leaned against the elevator wall, looking down. Another tear fell down to the floor. Tony flipped the elevator switch off and stepped to her. He took her hands in his and found that they were shaking.

"Zi," he said quietly. "It'll be okay."

He put a hand under her chin and tilted her face up to look at him. When their eyes connected, he felt another tug in his heart.

"How do you know?" she whispered, voice trembling slightly. "We all thought Mike was made of steel. What if Gibbs is next? What if-"

"Hey." Tony gripped her shoulders tightly. "We don't know. But until we do, we have to keep going on. We can't let fear stand in our way. And we have to remember rule eight."

"Never take anything for granted," she whispered.

"Exactly. Come here." He pulled her into his arms and she laid her head against his chest. Tony flipped the elevator back on and they stayed wrapped together until they reached Abby's lab and found Abby and McGee in the same position. Each couple broke apart and Tony reached out for Tim and Abby.

"Bring it in," he murmured. McGee wrapped an arm around Tony and another around Abby as they huddled together in a group hug in the elevator. They supported each other and got through it. Together.

A/N: This is my first NCIS fic, so please be nice. I've had this sitting on my computer for a while and figured it was about time to upload it. Reviews would be so amazing!
