" Where are they?" Hermione asked checking her watch. Harry and Hermione were waiting for their dates. They each thought it was important for the best friend to approve. Harry thought this was very important, but so far he hated every guy Hermione dated, none of them were good enough for her.
Hermione was waiting for Eric Miller, muggle in the extreme. Banker, sleazy, Harry thought.
Harry was waiting for Lisa Dolan, waitress and was the mother of two. But Harry hated being alone.
Hermione put her hand on her forehead and let her elbow drop onto the table. Harry felt awful. He could take being stood up, not that it had ever happened. But Hermione.he didn't think this should happen to her.
" Cheer up 'Mione, I will take you out for ice cream," Harry said wanting to see her smile. She smiled and Harry felt better. But before he could get up Eric Miller walked through the restaurant door, much to Harry's dislike. " Hey baby, sorry I'm late," he said taking a seat to her. He tried to kiss her and she turned away. " Good old Hermione," Harry thought. " You're late, you smell like beer and," she turned to him, " you have lipstick on your cheek." Right there and then Harry would've beaten the snot of the guy if he wasn't distracted by Lisa running through the door with her sweater on backwards and a smile to Eric. He smiled back and it was very clear why both were late. Hermione scoffed and picked up her jacket as Harry came around to her and helped to put it on. " Is it coincidence that you and Lisa wear the same lipstick or do call each other every night to see what the other is wearing?" Hermione asked Eric. Harry and Hermione walked out side by side not giving either of their ex's a backward glance. They walked onto the street and found it was a little chilly. " Ice cream?" Harry prompted and Hermione shook her head vigorously. They walked the short way to the Ice Cream Parlor and they walked in. Hermione took a small table with two seats and Harry walked to the counter. He and Hermione had come here enough times to know what the other wanted. " Two double scoop chocolate sugar cones," Harry said. He was presented with two very yummy looking cones and he made his way back to Hermione. She took her cone and sat back in her seat as Harry sat across from her. " Harry?" she asked after awhile. " Yes?" he asked finishing his cone. " Why do we never pick they right people?" " I don't know 'Mione, I just don't know," he said through a mouthful of cone. Hermione laughed, Harry always made her feel good. And now we leave them at this scene. They are together, in the parlor, warm and cozy. Meanwhile outside the rain is now pouring and the night's cold is setting in. But to them, they are together, laughing as best friends do. For 10 years they have been together and many more 10's they shall be. A/n Sorry, reading Tom Sawyer, if you've read it you know his writing. Stay tuned, this is not the end.
