Happy Holidays from the Boston Morgue, to You

Jordan walked into the apartment she shared with the man she married just six months ago, Detective Woody Hoyt. It was a few days before Christmas. This one was going to be a different one for Jordan. Not only is it her first as a wife, but it is also the first one without her father, who passed away from cancer three months ago. She still struggled to come to terms with that, but at the same time, she just received some unexpected, yet happy news that morning and she couldn't wait to share the news with Woody. Suddenly, out of nowhere, music blared through the apartment. It was Mariah Carey's version of "All I Want for Christmas Is You." Then suddenly, there was Woody, dressed in Santa Claus boxers, red socks pulled up to his knees, no shirt, but a black tie with Christmas trees all over it, topped off with a Santa Claus hat.

"Woody, what the…" Jordan began, but Woody was already singing the lyrics.

"I don't want a lot for Christmas, there is just one thing I need, I don't care about presents, underneath the Christmas tree…" he carried on, sang and danced around the apartment until he had finished every word of the song. Jordan just watched, clapped and laughed happily. "All I want for Christmas…..is YOUUUUUU!" he took a bow and threw his arms up in victory.

"You're crazy, you know that right?" Jordan said as she grabbed him by the tie and pulled him to her and kissed him. "You're not going to sing that in the show tomorrow night, are you?" she asked, referring to a charity Christmas concert Boston city employees were putting on for the community the following night. Jordan, Woody, their coworkers and others were all going to be performing.

"Well, you'll just have to wait until tomorrow to find out." He said with a smile as he kissed her again.

"Well, I know you sang that you didn't need any presents or anything, but I do have one I think you'll want, and because you've been a very good boy this year, I'm going to give it to you early." Jordan said as she lead Woody over to the couch and sat down. She pulled out what looked to be a long jewelry box from her purse. It was wrapped in red paper and had a little bow on top.

"What is it?" Woody asked as he took the box.

"Open it and find out." Jordan said with a smile. Woody carefully tore the paper off the box and opened it. Inside was a test stick from a home pregnancy test. "Positive" read the word in the window of the stick.

"Jordan…." Woody began softly as he looked from the stick to his wife, "Is this what I think it is? Are we…."

"Congratulations….daddy." she said as she fought back tears of joy. "I went to the doctor this morning and confirmed it. We are four weeks into the first trimester. Are you happy?"

"Am I happy?" he pulled her to him and grabbed her face and gently and kissed her for a long time. "Jordan, there is nothing I want more in this world than to build a family with you. Of course I'm happy. I love you so much." He kissed her again briefly before standing up and carrying her over to their bed.
