Halloween was something that Lee didn't understand. Why would you want to dress up as something dead or ghoulish and go around asking for candy that you don't even know where it has been? He just couldn't wrap his mind around it.
"Come on Lee, why don't you come to the party?" Tenten whined as she sat on his bed. "Look, Neji's going and he doesn't even like Halloween!"
"I have better things to do than go to a party! Like train." Lee said, nodding.
"Sakura will be there." Tenten said, rolling her eyes as she smoothed out the wrinkles on her costume. "I don't see what makes you like her..."
His beautiful cherry-blossom will be there? If Sakura was going to be there, then training could hold off til morning. Hopefully Gai-sensei wouldn't be angry with him.
Lee stood up and struck the nice-guy pose. "I'll go and I'll protect my cherry-blossom!"
Tenten and Neji glanced at each other. "Oh, boy.."
The walk to the Academy was chilling, a crisp breeze was blowing through the village. The moon was shining brightly and that was the only light that they needed. Lee shivered and he rubbed his hands up and down his arms. 'This spandex isn't very warm', he thought.
"Hey thick brows! Neji, Tenten!" a voice behind them called. Naruto ran up to him, pushing the Hokage's hat that had fallen over his eyes back up onto his head. "Are you guys going to the Academy?"
Lee turned around, tuning out Naruto's babbling chatter to his teammates. Sakura was a few yards in front of him, picking up a flower that had dropped from her hair.
"Oh hi, Lee-kun!" Sakura said, smiling at him. "How come you aren't dressed up?"
Lee took the flower from Sakura's hand and put it back in her hair, right behind her ear. "I wasn't planning on come with Neji and Tenten tonight. Tenten convinced me to come instead of training with Gai-sensei."
Sakura smiled again. "Well, I'm glad she convinced you, we're going to have a lot of fun!"
Sakura hooked her arm around Lee's and they started to walk. Their footsteps falling in sync, and the light touch of Sakura's hand on his arm made Lee shiver. He looked up to the moon, and he closed his eyes. He had wished for so long for something like this to happen to him. A slight tug on his arm released him from his dreams and Lee glanced to his side, noticing that Sakura had a worried expression knitted along her brows.
"Is there anything wrong, Lee?" she asked.
"No, it's nothing at all, Sakura-chan. I am just thankful that I am able to escort you around the village."
Sakura tilted her head forwards so that her hair would cover her face, hiding the fact that she was blushing. Lee looked at her again, and decided not to say anything at all, knowing that it would ruin the moment.
When they reached the Academy, music was playing, and there was already quite a few people dancing. Sakura reached for Lee's hand as he unconsciously walked forward, staring at the decorations. Lee stopped and waited for Sakura to be at his side again. Sakura looked up at him, smiling gently.
"Come on, Lee-kun! Let's go dance!"
