Standing before the door frame of her room, the sounds of running water filling the halls of the apartment, her hand clutches at the sliding door, fingers brushing against the soft wood. The yellow lights of the hall penetrate into her blue bedroom, unveiling the girl standing in-between; door half-open to the world. Her chest clamors and falls as she breathes forcefully.
The tap in the kitchen shuts off and silence avalanches down the halls. Finished washing the dishes of a silent dinner, his silhouette makes its way down the hall. She hears his quiet footsteps against the hardwood floors from a distance, and the yellow lights start to blur. The sounds and echoes of his footsteps bring down everything clinging clumsily to the walls of her heart. When he notices her standing there, still clutching the door with her hand, half emerged from the blue of her room, he doesn't smile. He pauses, feeling timid. Their eyes meet briefly in the silent, yellow hall. The sound of the heart in her chest beating grows and expands, until it fills the entire apartment.
He expects her mouth to open—threaten him, smother him—but she's so quiet and unmoving. "Asuka?" He lets out—and once he shatters the still and quiet, she steps outside of her room, shoving the door aside. Standing inches in front of him, she transforms—spitting venom at him; digging her claws into him. She's spewing out her insecurities; jealousies, and though he doesn't know it, she's pinned him against the very mesh walls of her heart. Her hands grab his frigid shoulders, pushing him against the wall, causing the very apartment to shake. She screams false hatred at him while he looks away. He simply waits for the time to pass until he can shut his bedroom door against the world.
Her rapid heart silenced, she releases him from her clutches ("I hate you!") and returns to her blue bedroom, slamming the sliding door against the hall. She feels sick to her stomach.
