hey guys! I was on the train when the idea hit me. I think it's pretty random xD. anyway, R&R! Only constructive critism is approved :D.
and...no, I haven't abandoned my Final Fantasy VII fic yet. It's just on hold.
DICLAIMER: If i owned them, i wouldn't be writing fanfics about them .
Roxas rushed down the corridors, breath shallow, head pounding. No, no… it's not happening…his mind was screaming…no other thought was penetrating his head…Why was this happening? Why now? Why?
The endless white hallways was making him sick. Room 917…room 917…room 917…where? Why… how…
FLASHBACK
Namine giggled as Roxas made another mistake folding the paper crane.
"I give up", Roxas snapped, crumpling up the unfinished crane. "What was it for anyway?"
Namine practically beamed. "You don't know? I thought your mother told you plenty of bedtime stories when you were younger."
"Well…" Roxas scratched his head. "I forgot most of them."
"Its alright. It is said that whoever folds a thousand paper cranes can be granted one wish."
"A thousand paper cranes! That's going to take forever!"
Another giggle. It sounded almost like wind chimes, tinkling melodiously. "Not if you have enough determination to guide you through the process."
Roxas pouted.
"W-we could do it together though…" she stuttered, pale face tainted with a slight hue of pink.
"Uh… alright."
"Okay, hurry up! I want to finish them so my wish can be granted."
Roxas groaned, "Well, you could use a wishing star…"
END FLASHBACK
Namine was his best friend since elementary. They had been really close, and now within a blink of an eye, they were finishing high school. And they stuck together through the entire process. But he had secretly loved her, everything about her, from her sparkling clear blue eyes, to her delicate hands which could produce amazing pieces of art. Now, these hands couldn't even move as they lay on the clean, white sheets—
Stop it, Roxas! She's not going to die! She wouldn't…she couldn't…she still had one more paper crane to fold to make her wish come true…
He raced inside the room, and what he saw stopped his heart. An ashen-faced girl was lying on the lone hospital bed, with many relatives and friends crowding around. Some of them were sobbing.
Roxas pushed past them, and came face-to-face with the girl he cherished, the girl he spent almost his entire childhood with, the girl who was about to slip away any moment now.
Her face was pale, her hair tangled, but Roxas still thought that she was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. Her eyelids fluttered.
"Roxas…"
"Yeah…I'm here." He tried so hard to keep his voice from cracking.
"Roxas…we did it…" She reached into the bed sheets. "We completed the thousand paper cranes…"
Roxas felt his eyes watering as he watched her smile serenely.
Namine choked "Roxas…promise me something…"
"Anything."
"Make a wish for…us.
I don't have much time left—"
"Yes you do! You are going to live!" He couldn't help it. His friend, his love interest, his everything…tears were streaming down his face now.
"Roxas…live for us…live for both of us." Namine was wheezing now. "Don't dwell in the past, live your life. Be happy…for us…"
She closed her eyes.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
The machine next to her bedside screamed its death sentence.
Screams, wails erupted in the small hospital ward.
Roxas swayed on the spot as the lone white paper crane tumbled down from his shaking hand.
