It was their last day at Hogwarts, ever. The seventh years had just graduated and were trying to soak up some last memories before they left to go home. Lily and James were down by the lake, standing under the favorite cherry blossem tree, and enjoying the sunset. James was holding Lily, preparing for what he was about to do.
The rest of the Marauders were hiding nearby, waiting for James to make his move. "Come on, why won't he hurry up?" Sirius whined, "I'm starving here!" "He's waiting for the perfect moment, give him a break," Remus replied.
The sun was a wonderful redish, orangish, pinkish color when James turned Lily around to face him. Breathing in deeply, he quickly asked the question that had been on his mind all day, for weeks actually.
Suddenly, Sirius, Remus, and Peter heard a squeal and watched the little red head tackle the fourth marauder. Her face was full of joy and excitement as she uttered alot of words the other boys couldn't hear.
"Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, of course I'll marry you!" Lily's enthusiasm caused James' face to light up. He hugged Lily close to him and pulled her down into a kiss.
Sirius, Remus, and Peter saw the happy couples exchange and knew Lily's answer. They rushed inside Hogwarts, trying to get their surprise together.
"I love you!" Lily whispered to James as she nuzzeled her head to fit between his chin and shoulder. "I love you, too! Always have, always will!" James responded. Abruptly, they were broken apart by shouting. Getting up and brushing themselves off, they turned to see a mob running their way.
Leading the pack was Sirius, Remus, and Peter. Everyone was cheering. Obviously, they had heard the couple's exciting news. As the mob reached the two newly-engageds, Lily and James saw that they had all the supplies for a party. They celebrated the ending of old chapters of their lives and the beginning of new ones. To new beginnings!
