Prologue
She remembers it as if it were yesterday; she was standing in the clearing with the girl she called her best friend and they were fighting. They were fighting over something so stupid. Curses were thrown around casually, and hurtful things were said so easily at the time. She didn't realise what they were doing to her best friend. She didn't know what the future outcome would be over something that seemed so trivial at the time. She never realised how stupid she was being by taking this so far.
It was the next day when she knew something was wrong when she went to her best friends' house and no one answered. She had looked through the window, and seeing everything bare, she ran to the head of the villages' headquarters.
They had told her that she had left early that morning. She had left nothing behind and said she would not be coming back. She gave no reason except that she had nothing to stay for. Nothing was important enough to stay behind for.
It was like the world came crashing down on her. She felt numb as the truth finally hit her that her best friend had left. It was all because of her and her stupidity. She fought with her over something so small and insignificant and now she had left.
No longer would she have someone to talk to about everything and anything. She would no longer have the one person who she had known since she was but a baby. She had screwed up her life long friendship with only a few well-aimed words in one night.
And now, she would have to pay for that for many years to come until that fateful day when they would meet up again, only for her to find out that the best friend she once knew was no more.
…And it was all her fault.
