"LILY! Come quick!" James exclaimed up the stairs to the dormitories. He and Lily Evans had been given a project in herbology: grow a seed into a plant and be able to tell what type it was and how it could be used. The pair had grown fairly find of the plant; so fond, in fact, that they named him Harry.
"What? What is it?" Lily rushed into the common room from whence James had called.
"It's Harry! He has Inaquadation! Look, he's withering!" James whined, worriedly. Lily inspected the plant and looked up at him.
"He has what?" she asked as she walked across the room, grabbing her water bottle as she went.
"Inaquadation: a lamentable plant distemper that causes plants to become combustible. What is Professor Sprout going to say if we let Harry catch on fire?"
Lily spun around to face him. "Who in the world gave you that conjecture?" Se asked. She wondered how someone with a prodigious gullibility ever made it to seventh year.
"Well Sirius was telling me…"
"Stop," Lily interrupted, "First, why would you listen to Sirius; he's a stoic fool who likes engendering trouble? Second, allow me to disabuse you." She walked over to the water fountain (which always puzzled her; why is there a water fountain in a castle?), filled up the bottle and walked back towards Harry. She looked at James for a second, and then poured the water onto the plant. "He's thirsty," she clarified. She looked back at James who had begun to watch the plant. "Why was Sirius telling you about Inaquadation?"
"I was annoying them and he was trying to get me to leave them alone. Sirius and Remus." He added, seeing her puzzled look. "Apparently, no one is allowed to talk in the library if Remus or Sirius can hear them."
"So his expedient was to tell you that our plant was dying? How…I'm glad that story makes sense to you." Lily amended. Shaking her head, she headed back up to her dormitory where she concluded that she would never understand her boyfriend's logic.
