We seriously need to congratulate the vampire diaries writers for killing a potentially beautiful story arc such as Finn and sage's (I didn't like Sage or Finn a bit when they first appered). For once a decent 2 people story in mystic falls instead of tangled triangles(I wonder iMystic falls is short of which one: population or ethics) or vampires following Elena like lovesick puppies (seriously Klaus as well and following who? Caroline? Mercy on the people), then for feeding our tendencies to bear negative feelings for Elena and the mystic falls gang which have a worse moral greyscale than even Klaus (the actor is immensely talented).

The originals' characterisation was the best thing in the season.

Perceptions

It was heartbreaking.

After 900 years of waiting, all they get was barely 6 hours before they die. Part of her regrets what they'd done to them but the end justifies the means, doesn't it?

After an experience of an abusive BF, A you are not norm one and I am biting you and killing you one, she can't but wonder

How can you love someone for 900 years?

He didn't care.

Sage wasn't particularly his favourite person and Finn was simply collateral Damage.

Yet it has been bugging him, how could sage (considering what a bitch she was) capable of waiting 900 years for someone?

Sure, Elena was 100 times better( no, no comparison could be drawn), but she couldn't wait 9 months for him.

What kind of a person could wait this long?

Rebekah was sad.

Despite everything, she still loves her brother. They all hate themselves to an extend but Finn took it to the extreme.

She was even sad for Sage. Sure they both hated each other and never saw eye to eye but sage loved her brother, she waited for him and she respects her for that.

Sage was loyal.

Niklaus was numb.

He doesn't know if he is feeling anything. The stake problem is consuming him.

Yet he knows something, he has always been jealous of Finn, even now.

Back when they were human, Finn was the favourite son, the golden boy, back then he loved his brother dearly but just couldn't help it. He never had to do anything to earn his parents' approval, their approval was for granted.

Even after his death, Rebekah is mourning him(not allying with someone who wants to kill him).

He had someone to wait for him 900 years.

He doubts if anyone will do the same for him.

It wasn't certainly easy on Elijah.

After a thousand years, one down for good. Not a good sign.

He is grief stricken.

He remembers Finn so well back in his most vivid image, back when he was a potential warlock and a good warrior, back when he was a loving brother.

Back when he knew Sage.

Sage and Rebekah were fighting over god knows what in the new village they relocated to after their mother's death, When he decided to meddle to prevent a bloodbath.

Sage wasn't by any means an easy person; they ended up head butting with each other, with Finn taking his fair share of insults.

Later that night, he saved a horrendously beaten Sage from her father who was using her in a not so fair trade.

He offered her a shelter and to escort her anywhere she wants, unconditionally.

And that is when it all started.

Stolen moments, secret rendezvous that was all they had in their lifetime.

He was glad Sage died shortly after so she won't have to wait anymore.

Finn was undoubtlessly a noble man.

No wonder Sage waited for him, he was worth every moment of the wait.
