I looked over all the bags on my bed double checking that I had everything I needed for Beacon. I mentally went through a checklist involving things such as deodorant, soap and other toiletries. Once I was positive I had everything packed. I moved over to my desk where my weapons laid.
My main weapon of choice was a bolt action sniper rifle chambered in 7.62x51mm that also turned into a sword named Midnight due to its black color. My secondary weapon of choice for more close quarters situations was a big .45 caliber pistol. I turned the safety on and placed Midnight in a rifle holster on my back diagonally with the barrel facing the ground and the stock over my right shoulder. I picked up my .45 pulled the slide back and turned the safety on before sliding it into a pistol holster on my belt.
"Gray the bullhead from Millstone will be leaving soon get down here!" I heard my mother call from downstairs. I sighed and decided to hurry to avoid my mother's wrath I took a quick glimpse in the mirror. I looked at myself standing at 6'0 with tan skin, gray eyes, and shaggy black hair. I looked at my outfit currently being a gray jacket white t-shirt, black jeans and a pair of converse sneakers. Once I felt that I looked acceptable to leave the house I grabbed my things and went downstairs.
I entered the living room and was met by my mother and younger brother Ash. "Do you have everything Gray?" my mother asked me "Yes mother," I replied after that we hopped in our truck and drove over to the next village so I could catch a bullhead going to Vale. Along the way, I looked out into the grass fields and got a little bit of anxiety. Living outside of the kingdoms is dangerous and me leaving home as well as my father not being their worried me. I also thought about what it would be like to be staying in an actual kingdom. The thought excited me but also fueled my anxiety. Ash seemed to notice this and asked me if I was okay and I looked at him and smiled. "Yeah, I'm fine little brother. I'm just thinking about what Vale might be like." I noticed my mother frowned in the rearview mirror but decided not to say anything.
We arrived in Millstone and we paid the pilot for letting me catch a ride. After loading my stuff on board I spoke to my mother and brother for final goodbyes. "I'm going to miss you Gray have fun and let me know what it's like at Beacon!" My brother said as he hugged onto me. "I'll keep in touch Ash." I said hugging him back. My brother got back in the truck after my mother told him to do so, and she pulled me into a nice motherly hug. I could hear her sobbing on my shoulder through the sobs I heard her tell me "Gray Stone you better write to us at least once a month and visit when you can." I held onto her and promised her I would.
I knew it would be hard for her to let me go, but eventually, the baby bird has to leave the nest. "Get back to the village safe mom. Goodbye." I said, "Time to go kid!" I heard the pilot yell. My mother let me go and I boarded the bullhead and gave one final wave goodbye to my family.
My trip on the bullhead was silent with the pilot not caring enough for conversation. After a while, I dozed off only to be awoken by the pilot informing me we were flying over Vale's border. I looked outside and was amazed by the view of the city. "We're landing at some landing pads at the docks I don't have the authorization to land at Beacon. So I can't take you directly there, that is unless you want to get shot down." The pilot joked I chuckled and replied with"I think I'll pass." The pilot landed the bullhead and gave me directions from the docks to Beacon I thanked him before going off.
I walked around Vale going towards the landing pads for the ships to Beacon and I was amazed at the tall buildings and the number of people in one area. The most I knew about the kingdoms was from stories my father told me as a child. I finally arrived at the landing pads and looked at the huge ship and stepped on board. Minutes later the ship began moving and took everyone to Beacon. I looked out the window and smiled thinking to myself today is the start of a new chapter. Of course, at the time I didn't know the people I would meet and the events to come that would change me. My name is Gray Stone and this is my story.
(A/N): So I've finally decided to step up and actually try my hand in writing. I've planned this story out for a long time and seeing that volume 6 is coming I figured I'd start it. Also for visual reference, Gray's rifle is modeled after an M24 sniper rifle and his pistol is a Mark 23. I hoped you've all enjoyed this short introduction to the story feel free to share your thoughts in the reviews/comments.
