To Dance Alone

A/N: My first attempt at a Kaddar/ Kalisin fic.

Disclaimer: I own the poem. TP owns the rest.

You take my hand and lead me

You clad in velvet, I in silk

To this we dance, this sad lilt

I, a young maiden, you a man.

Mortals with sins, some as black as coal

I look into your brown eyes, I see your soul

Behind that mask of gold you hide

Please tell me you are on my side

In this bitter war, of clashing wills.

In this ailing time of doubt

What is this all about?

I used to frolic in the grass

As a small, young lass

But now those fun times are gone,

I am now a princess

So I must act as so

My eyes, the famous Contè blue, stare curiously at you

The emperor of Carthak, Kaddar, clad in all your riches

I do notice the expensive, soft cloth of your robes, the costly gold rings

Your mannerism is just, like a king's

But really, in my heart I look for your charm

Will you do me no harm?

Will you treat me as your equal, your own?

That's all I ask from you, those simple questions.

Will you keep your word?

Shall we step to this dizzying dance?

Or shall I have to waltz in time alone?
