S-some things just should be left alone. Like this.
If Leaf had a mouth, he would be smiling. The little glitter pixie fluttered about around Linebeck's head as he slept, having crept out of Link's hat, of all places, for the night. The captain didn't look quite so dreary when he was asleep. As a matter of fact, he looked downright peaceful. Leaf jingled a bit.
Linebeck's eyes shot open, roused by that horrifically loud jingle-jangle. Of course, it wasn't normally so resonant, but the enclosed space had one heck of an echo. "What do you think you're doing here, sparkles-?" The crimson spirit puffed out his wings with a small sound of indignance.
"I'm Leaf!" he piped crossly, dancing around his head in a shimmery blur that was just too much for the half-asleep captain, who promptly yanked Leaf by the wings (which were surprisingly rubbery) and dangled him in front of his eyes. "Hey! Lemme go! Lemme go!"
"Quiet, jingles," muttered Linebeck, more than just a tad irritated. He shook the fairy around a bit, red dust flopping to the ground like a butterfly's scales. Surely that wasn't healthy. "Why aren't you in the kid's hat, with blue and sparkles?" That, really, was what bothered him the most.
Leaf jerked back and forth for a few seconds, a twinkling cradle between Linebeck's fingers, before falling to an exhausted halt. "Mieumieu, lemme go," he buzzed, "It's dark and hard to breathe in there!"
The man hummed a broken tune a bit. After a minute or so's thought, he released the glittery ball, which fell with a startled jerk as it came back to eye level. "Whatever, I'm sleeping now, go bother the kid or whatever you fairies do," he snorted, falling back upon the pillows.
Chattering with excitement, the scarlet spirit came to rest on Linebeck's nose, dulling himself with sleep and almost matching the colour of Linebeck's nose.
