Speculation to the end of the War with the Giants. Possible Lost Hero spoilers.

He sucks in a breathe like he's coming up for air.

"Annabeth!" he screams, before his mind even registars the white ceiling.

His chest heaves, the sheets are white too, his hands bandaged the other wrapped in a cast to his elbow. She's not in the room.

"Annabeth!" he yells again, desparate and scared and wild. He's struggling to pull back the sheets with trembling hands, "Annabeth!"

He figures out his leg is in a cast when tries to stand and face plants into the wall.

"ANNABETH," he's been inches from death a thousand times but never has he called her like this.

He drags himself to his feet and stumbles weak and dizzy down the hall.

"Annabeth!" his voice is getting wobbly like a toddler waking from a bad dream with no mother in sight.

Then suddenly she's there in the hall, running to meet him as his knees give up on him. He pulls them both to ground, her name bubbling from his lips.

"Percy! Gods Percy what are you doing!"

He balls the back of her shirt in his hands and buries his face in her hair and he tries to breathe in her smell, tries to drink her in but he can't...

Because he's crying. Thick and heavy the tears fall on her neck.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry," he breathes the words like he did her name with a shaky, tear-strained voice.

All her angry words for Leo and Rachel and Grover and Nico die in her throat. She's never, not once ever seen him cry.

"I'm So Sorry Annabeth, I'm so sorry, I'm sorry," He's falling apart. He isn't supposed to fall apart, she isn't remotely prepared to see him like this.

She holds him tighter, trying to gather all of him in her small arms. "Percy, it's okay," she forces the words around the lump in her throat, and her face finds his shoulder.

He pulls away and cradles her face in his palms, he looks at her with watery green eyes, tears still rolling down his cheeks.

"Do you, do you still love me? Do you forgive me?"

She crumples, the tears leaking past her clenched eyelids, "Yes you stupid idiot, nothing could ever make me stop loving you."

They sit and they cry together because he remembers. He remembers everything, and worst of all he remembers not remembering.
