We were in the forest, just Lily and me. She looked lovely in her summer dress, her fiery red hair in tendrils over her shoulder. We decided to go camping, only the two of us. She told me she had been camping before that we needed to make a fire.
I found the wood and watched her rub two twigs together, creating a spark that caused the fire to light up. I got the black pot out, adding the ingredients to make a stew. Watching her make the fire filled my heart with a fire that could never be extinguished. She insisted cooking wasn't hard, it was just like making potions, and I was determined to impress her. We sat in silence, watching the stars, and I pulled her into my arms, using my body to warm her up. After we ate, we roasted marshmallows on the dying embers, just enjoying each other's company.
The next morning we had coffee by the fireside, and then went on a hike through the forest. It was overgrown but beautiful. The wild outdoors reminded me of the wild side of Lily, the fire inside her that longed to be set free. Her emerald green eyes glinting in the light, her smile showing me that she was content, this was where she wanted to be. We were two halves of one whole, coming together in the wilderness.
She met my eyes, her smile cheeky. When she walked over to me, kissing me, I felt my heart skip a beat. I never believed myself to be worthy of such a gem, but she chose me, over everyone else, and I would do everything in my power to be the best version of myself. She decided to see the man I could become, the boy who befriended the outcast, not the strange loner everyone else sees. My arms wrapped around her, pulling her closer, hearing the wind echo in the trees.
She could hear my heart speak without words, our passion conveyed in our kiss. I felt her love, and she felt mine.
