Leon watched as Ada tried to hold onto his wrist. Looking at him with tears in her eyes, her hand started to slip. "Goodbye Leon." She whispered. Then she fell into blackness. Leon watched as she disappeared, a small smile crept onto his face. Holding the vial of the sought after G-Virus, Leon left the corridor still smiling. "Goodbye, indeed." He said.
He only had one more thing to do. Claire Redfield was waiting for him on the lower levels of the lab. He had successfully tricked her into thinking that he was one of the good guys. But, he had his orders. She wouldn't be allowed to leave alive. Now that he had the location of the other STARS members, all who opposed Umbrella would soon see that there's nothing to stop them. With Claire's corpse, Sherry and the G-Virus, he should get a nice bonus. Then the STARS were next.
As he made it to the lower level, he watched as Claire waved him to the train. Too easy. He thought. Making a running leap for the moving train, he headed to the front. Claire seemed relieved to see him, at least until he pointed his gun at her. "I'm sorry, Claire. But, you know too much."
"Leon? What are you doing?"
A shot rang out and the two stared at each other. But Claire didn't fall. Her smoking gun was pointed at his chest. Leon felt cold all the sudden. Then he found it hard to breathe. Feeling unsteady, Leon dropped his gun and it clattered to the floor. As he sank to his knees, he watched as Sherry hid behind Claire with a terrified look on her face. Then darkness consumed him as he fell to the cold floor.
Claire breathed a sigh of relief. She couldn't believe that Leon had betrayed them. She wouldn't have if she didn't see his corpse on the floor. Hugging Sherry to her so she wouldn't see Leon, Claire was glad of the training that Chris had given her. It had just saved her life. The train stopped somewhere outside town. Helping Sherry from the car, Claire took one last look at Leon's lifeless body. "Goodbye Leon." She whispered and they left.
Some time later, a bruised woman in a red dress stumbled towards the train. "Leon…" Ada breathed as she saw him in a pool of blood. Checking his throat, she felt a pulse. He was still alive! Ada wondered if she should leave him there. No. I love him too much to just leave him to die. Then she remembered the cold smile she saw as she fell. Leon was no hero. He wasn't the man she fell in love with. Still, she had hope that perhaps he was, just buried deep within a mad man's mind.
She saw a helicopter above and knew it was meant for her. Wesker isn't going to like this one bit. Returning her attention to Leon, she noticed something glinting in the pocket of his uniform. Pulling it out, she was it was the G-Virus. She smiled. It looks like I was successful after all. Go me! The helicopter touched down and several men jumped to the ground.
"Ada Wong?" Asked the leader. "We're sent here to pick you up."
Ada nodded. "There's a man in the train. He's badly injured. We're taking him with us."
"Our orders are only to pick you up, ma'am."
"We're taking him with us. He might be of use." She told him sternly. The leader nodded and ordered the rest of his team to get Leon onto the helicopter.
As the helicopter lifted, Ada took one last look at the doomed city. Though she felt a great pity for those unfortunate souls still alive, she knew this was just one more step towards her objective. She had to keep her focus or all was lost.
The End
