DO TO THE HYPE OF BORDERLANDS THREE. I'M GONNA WRITE MY OWN BORDERLANDS FANFICTION. IT'S GONNA BE A RETAILING OF BORDERLANDS 2, WHICH HAS BEEN DONE TO DEATH BUT TRYING TO WRITE A SELF-CONTAIN STORY LOCATED SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN PANDORA IS HARD BECAUSE WE NEVER LEAVE THE PLANET FOR ANOTHER PLANET. THE MOON DOESN'T COUNT AS IT'S A MOON. NOW THIS STORY WILL BE MOSTLY BE IN THE THIRD PERSON PERSPECTIVE OF MY OC.
PLUS THIS IS A CONDENSED RETAILING AS SOME SIDE QUESTS WILL BE SKIPPED BECAUSE, WELL, THEY'RE SIDE QUESTS. CANON IS QUESTIONABLE FOR THEM. I'LL DO THE DLCs TOO BECAUSE THEY'RE ALL AMAZING, EXCEPT FOR THE HAMMERLOCK ONE. EVEN THOUGH I LIKE HIM BUT I HATE THAT DLC. SO I'LL DO IT BUT JUST FOCUS ON THE MAIN PLOT AND SKIP THE SIDE QUESTS. NOW TO TALK ABOUT KRIEG, I REALLY LOVE KRIEG, HE WAS AN AMAZING CHARACTER TO PLAY AS. BUT WRITING FOR HIM IS GOING TO BE DIFFICULT BECAUSE HE YELLS OUT RANDOM THINGS. SO HE'S GONNA BE SILENT MOST OF THE TIME.
I REALLY HOPE I WRITE THE CHARACTERS ACCURATELY. THE BLs2 CHARACTERS HAD VERY LITTLE PERSONALTY BECAUSE THEY ONLY HAD ACTION PHRASES OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. ANYWAY LETS GET STARTED. ALSO ZERO WILL SPEAK IN LESS HAIKU, BECAUSE IF I RECALL IT WENT IN AND OUT
RE-EDIT
A young, barley adult woman stood next to a window. Eyes gazing at the dry dessert area outside of the Hyperion train compartment she's currently in. The woman's name is Raven. In the train with the Raven are three other people. When stepping into the mode of transportation five minutes ago. Seeing them pretty much wait for the train to start taking them where they need to go.
They all looked at her since she was a new arrival. Raven gave them a shy wave and each of them gave her a different kind of greeting and went back to minding their own business. Since at the time and even now, with nothing to do she placed herself by the window and stared out of it. Though in the middle point of the five minutes of waiting.
She took the chance to analyze every detail of the three. One of the men has short brown hair and green eyes. He wears a brown shirt with a skull logo stitched on the left sleeve, green pants, and finally boots with metal plating. From what Raven could've guessed by his features and height. He's somewhere around the age of 25 or 26 and stands at 5/9. The same height she stands at. The clothes just say soldier.
The other man is surprisingly short and stocky. The color of his hair and facial hair is a dark shade of blue. He has hair is styled into a Mohawk. He wears a orange T-shirt and do to a few holes in it she can see a white tank top is being worn underneath it, jeans of a dark shade of color, a belt with a buckle that has a skull and cross bone on it, and boots. The adult woman can tell he's in his mid-thirties and guessing his height would be at 5/4.
Now the last individual is a person she can't tell if they're guy or a girl... or if they're even human. They wear a full black and grey bodysuit with padding that acted as armor, covering their entire face is a helmet with a black visor, and finally they had four fingers. Three fingers and a thumb.
Suddenly the door to the compartment opens up. Catching everyone's attention, the person that walked in is a beautiful slender woman. Her skin is pale, she has short blue hair and her lips are painted with blue lipstick. Her outfit is a yellow shirt with the left sleeve either ripped off or design not to have one while the right arm is covered in one and the hand is covered by a glove, dark blue pants, and blue and yellow shoes. The most eye catching thing about her is the fact she's a siren.
The bluenette scans the room and the people in it. She says nothing and takes a seat in the back of the compartment. Just as the moment her rear hits the cushion, a voice over the intercom started talking. "Hello vault hunters, Handsome Jack here. Glad to see everyone made it on board, now sit back and relax, it will take at least a few hours to reach the drop off. So in the mean time mingle with each other or enjoy the food and drinks provided to you from us at Hyperion in the next train compartment. Thank you for supporting Hyperion. Handsome Jack out." It was clear that it was a recording.
After the mention of food and drinks, the short man ran to the other side of the compartment and threw the door open. "Fiesta!" He shouted with his hands over his head and then ran over to a table that has tons of bottles of beer of different brands.
Walking into the compartment herself, with the other three trailing behind her. Raven's eyes widen at all of the refreshments. Making her way to a table that had burgers and hot dogs. Raven grabs herself a burger, takes seat at a nearby chair, and starts eating it. The flavor danced on her taste buds. For several months the woman has been eating MREs or protein bars that acted as breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Looking up from her food, Raven glances at the others. The short man is chugging down beer after beer and when he wasn't doing that he was munching down on something. The brown haired man simply drank a bottle of beer and the in the helmet just stood against the wall, arms crossed over their chest. It makes one wonder why they even bothered to be here with the food if they're not going to eat anything.
Glancing at the bluenette, Raven noticed a interesting sight. The woman is eyeing the food as if she never seen it before. Her face rests on the expression of curiosity. Raven opened to say something but hesitated. This poked at her curiosity a little. "What's wrong? Never seen a hot dog before?" She asked. The pale skin woman turns her head slightly in Raven's direction. "I haven't seen most of this food in fact."
Now that was a surprise to hear, even the others were surprised by this information. The short man choked a little on his beer and coughed. After a few pounds on his chest with his fist, he turns to the siren. "Amiga? Did I hear you correctly, you never had a hot dog and a burger before?"
She shakes her head no. "What about a steak? You at least had to eat one of those, right?" Said the military man. "What's a steak?" She innocently asked. Everyone became slacked jawed and wide eyed. Except for the masked person. Instead a shocked red emoji face appeared over the black visor of their helmet. Which surprised Raven, 'Guess that's how they convey emotions.' She said in her head.
The short man pats his hands together and makes his way to the woman. "Amiga, you've been missing out, let old Salvador help you." Everyone watched as he led the bluenette to the buffet table, though not before she told him and indirectly the others her name is Maya.
Focusing back to her own food, just before Raven can take another bite. "So what's a Lance-man doing here on Pandora off all places? Weren't you guys kicked out or something?" Pulling the burger away from her mouth. The woman turns her head to the direction where the voice came from. It was the brown haired man and he has his attention solely on her.
"I'm not actually a Lance-man or part of the Atlas Corporation's military in any form." She corrected. This answer caused the man to tilt his head and then ask. "Then why are you wearing standard Lance-man infantry armor? Did you steal it?"
True to what he said, Raven is wearing a Lance-men armor. But it was fashioned in way that it would fit on a woman but designed to be gender neutral. "That's because it used to belong to my mother. She use to be in the Atlas military serving as infantry." Raven explained. Nodding a bit, "So she let you have it." He stated. Then went to drinking more of his beer.
A sheepish smile formed on her face. "Kinda... not really." The raised eyebrow on his face said it all. Sighing just a little, "Both my parents served in the Atlas military. It's how they met and soon fell in love with each other. Which then turned into them getting married and having me shortly after."
For the first time since getting on the train. The dark dressed person spoke, "Your parents/Did you look up to them/Did you in turn want to be in Atlas to make them proud?/" After hearing his voice, which surprisingly did not help guessing this person's gender because the voice could've been made from a voice changer. Raven decided she's gonna start using he/him pronouns for him.
Nodding, "Very much, yes. Growing up as the daughter to two parents that were in the military. You want to enlist yourself so you can make them proud." Raven paused for bit then continued. "After mom got promoted to a high position in the military. Which pretty much removed her from the front lines. I would always look at her armor that she put up in a display case in our big house with stars in my eyes. Just picturing myself wearing my own Atlas armor." Raven's lips shifted in a small smile of nostalgia.
"But that did not end up happening. Guessing by you young age." The brown haired man stated. The smile on her face turns into a frown, "Yeah, five years ago. Atlas got hit hard by some events that happened on this very planet."
"Heard about this I did/Two high ranking Atlas officers died/Causing a huge power vacuum within the ranks and loss of many Atlas soldiers./" Said the helmeted man, uncrossing his arms.
Raven adds, "And then some. The corporation lost billions of dollars in funds trying to take this planet for whatever reason, I'm not sure why. Sells in the coming months went down hard. I remember one day my mom coming home fuming. I heard her saying to my dad that lots of employees got laid off to balance out what funds the corporation had left. My parents got lucky they didn't get that treatment. Also she said that some rival corporation now owned all of Atlas. That's all I remember of the conversation she had with dad. What really stung was that Atlas would no longer be recruiting for their military. My dreams were completely shot down. Gonna skip some years and somethings in my own life but shortly after reaching the age of nineteen. I took my mother's armor with out permission and struck out to be a gun for hire. You know? See the sights and make money on the side." Raven finished explaining her story.
"Sorry that your dreams couldn't become a reality." Said Maya's voice. To be honest, Raven completely forgot about Maya and Salvador. So hearing the bluenette talk kinda spooked her. "How long have you been a merc?" Asked Salvador.
Putting down her half eaten lunch. "I only been doing this for several months. So still green around in a few areas." She was then asked why did she become a Vault Hunter if she's new to this life. Crossing her arms over her chest, "Before I answer that. I say right now is a good time to introduce ourselves to each other and explain why we're all trying to find the vault. After all we were hired by the man who needs our help to find it, so logic says we're gonna be working with together."
It made sense to everyone. "My name is Axton and I'm hunting the vault for a challenge and personal glory." Said the newly named Axton. "Zero is what people call me/Nothing has provided me a challenge/This vault sounds like it can./" Zero said. "You all know my name. As you can tell I'm a Siren and looking for answers about them. Pandora has a connection." Maya said. "I'm looking for it because it sounds fun!" Boasted Salvador.
"My name is Raven. I'm hunting the vault because it gives me a long term plan to follow." No one could question her on what that means. As she excused herself because she needed to use the bathroom.
Entering back into the train compartment they were all in sometime ago. Raven heads for the bathroom and walks inside. After doing her business, she washes her hands in the sink and looks up to stare at her reflection in the mirror. She's not sure why she did so. Nothing about her young features has changed since she left home to become a mercenary.
Her chin-length black hair is still well kept, both of her emerald color eyes are still there, her slightly pale skin is still smooth looking and lacking scars, and the black lipstick painting her lips hasn't smeared yet. Checking out her armor next, nothing seems to be out of order.
Raven has actually made a few color changes to the armor. However she made sure to keep the majority of the silver color since this is her mom's armor. Anyway she painted the shoulder guards a dark purple color and replaced the red military trousers with a dark purple one. Strapped on her right leg is a sheath combat knife. The silver armor protecting her torso has remain untouched but she has added a few small things. For starters on the left side of the chest plate has the words 'Daddy's girl' written in pink and on the right side is a image of a black bird. Sharp red eyes, wings spread out, and sharp talons. The silver metal plating that covers both forearms, knees, and forelegs remain untouched. Finally she wear's silver gloves and boots.
Slipping the gloves back on and exiting the bathroom. The black haired woman makes her way to her duffle bag resting on a seat. She had this on her when coming to the planet and walking onto the train. Pulling the zipper to the side and reaching in. What Raven pulls out is a weapon that hasn't been on Pandora for good amount of years.
A S&S Munitions automatic rifle with their color scheme of black and yellow. This was a gift from her dad before leaving home. "Love you dad." Raven mumbled to herself with a smile. Slinging the gun onto her back, Raven next pulls out is her Lance-man helmet. Like with most of the armor she kept it it's silver color but replaced the red lenses with purple ones.
Putting the helmet on the metal floor close to the duffle bag. She reaches for a side pocket. Unzipping it, the items she pulled out and currently holding in her gloved hand are two metallic orbs the size of ping bong balls. A interesting thing about the orbs are the thick rings that completely circle them in the center.
One orb has a red ring while the second orb has a light blue ring. Now the woman has no idea where these orbs came from. After finishing a job on one of the Edens, she was hanging out in her motel room when suddenly there was a knock on the door. Opening the door while hiding a pistol behind her back. Raven was surprised to see no one standing on the welcome mat.
Just as she was about to close the door, something was caught in the blurry vision part of her eyes. Looking down, eyes widen a little when seeing a small lock box and taped on the top of it is a note. All it said was 'They'll help you. Their names are...' Raven didn't finish reading as she was confused on the 'They'll help you' part.
Picking the box up in her hands and pressing the release button. What was inside the box were the orbs. To this day she wanders who left the box at her motel room. But those thoughts can wait, attaching the orbs to her belt. Raven grabs her helmet and holds it under her arm. "Better head back to the others."
However the young woman only made it halfway when suddenly. "Halt!" Said a robotic voice. Completely turning around, standing ten feet away from her are three yellow blocky robots. 'Where did they come from?!' Raven said in her head. Before a word can leave her lips. One of the robots pulls out a gun from their inventory and aimed it at her head. "Jack says goodbye and that it's nothing personal."
It fired at Raven, but good thing for her she's used to being shot at. Rolling out of the way just in time, the other robots pull out their own guns. But they never got the chance to fire them as Raven reached for her own gun much faster and pulled the trigger. The three machines stood no chance against the hail of bullets.
As the last robot fell, the young adult gets up and says. "What the hell! Jack wants us dead?! But why? He hired us to find the vault!" Just then gun fire can be heard coming from the train compartment where the others are. "Shit! I got to help the others. God Jack really wants to kill us!" Reaching for her helmet she dropped to avoid getting shot. Raven slips it on and rushes to the compartment to help her friends.
