Sealed Fates
Her breath came out in short puffs as she ran through the Forbidden Forest. Her body
trembling with fear not even known in her worst nightmare. Hearing the pounding of feet
behind her made her run even faster, dodging trees and roots as she fought her way
through. She could know feel the breath of her pursuer on her neck, she was almost there
just a little more to go and she would be safe...hopefully. Coming through the forest
flying past the cabin that sat so close to the edge of the woods she came to the towering
school, climbing up the trellis to the nearest window and through it never looking back.
Falling to the floor rolling and rolling until she hit the wall and turned to look at the
window she had left open.
"Get up, just get up!" she said to her self. Rolling to her knees she lunged and through the
window closed. Finally for the first time that night she relaxed, leaning up against the
wall, steadying herself. When she finally thought she was ready to go back to the dorm,
she got up and left the room not once looking out the window. She was afraid of what she
would find.
The next night though she was out in the same place but not running from anything but
waiting for something. And then she saw it. The glow of it was simply too hard to miss
and the beauty and grace of it were too powerful to resist. The unicorn stood like angel in
a devil's den. His mane fell to his knees in sparkling silver waves. He looked up and saw
her but did not flee instead it walked forward to her. There was something about this
creature that made you want to weep. Was it its beauty or grace or the way it carried it's
self that made her think of old magic? And the strangest thing happened he started to talk
to her and instead of regular horse talk, she found she could understand him.
"Hello beautiful one what is your name?" he said.
"Lily" she said.
After a moments pause she said, "What is yours?"
"Nithsheen" said he.
"And why are you here on such a night as this in a darkly enchanted Forrest?" said
Nithsheen.
"I have been searching for the king of the Unicorns. In my dreams I have found him in
this very spot." she said.
"Why were you searching for him, what is it that you think you need from him?"
Nithsheen said sounding a bit terse.
" I have not come to ask him for anything but to warn him that he is in great danger I
think. That is what my dream also told me." Lily said.
After a moment of consideration Nithsheen slowly said, " In your world are you a seer of
many things?"
" No."
