A group of people stood in the center of the room. A man with gold skin and long, straight, white hair sat at the throne. His ringing voice filled the room, "Are you ready?"
The people standing before him nodded, their eyes dark with momentary sadness of leaving their longtime home. The man on the throne spoke again, "You will be reincarnated into humans below. You will come back when the time is right and you will regain all of your lost memories. You will keep your memories of your time below."
The people nodded again. The man on the throne looked them over and smiled sadly, he told them, "I will miss all very much. But remember, I will have no control of which you become reincarnated as. All I can say is that you will be humans, mortals."
This last thing said, the man waved his large hand over the group. The group of people glowed, shimmered, and then vanished. The man stroked his white beard and prepared to watch his children and nephews and nieces grow up in the mortal world. His wife appeared next to him and grasped his shoulder. "Zeus…"
The man, Zeus, smiled sadly, "I know, it will be a hard life for them down there. Let us watch over them."
Hera glanced worriedly at him but complied. She sat down in a comfortable chair next to Zeus and looked into the large mirror that appeared and watched. In the sea and in the underworld, Poseidon and Hades were also watching with their wives.
Psyche, Hestia, Ares, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Aphrodite, Hermes, Hephaestus, Eros, Hebe, Iris, Hercules, the Muses, and the Graces shot through the golden tunnel leading them to mortal bodies. They glanced at each other and smiled sadly, none knowing when they would be able to see their home again. Glancing one last time behind them, they relaxed and let the golden tunnel carry them where it would. One by one, the gods and goddesses were born into the mortal world.
A pale hand with blood red nails rose and slapped down on a young girl's cheek. Gray eyes filled with tears as the hand rose again. She didn't know why her mother hated her so much.
Years had gone by and her beatings had increased. Her father had passed away a few years ago and no one was there to stop her mother from hitting her.
She had no friends because her brother was the leader of the most feared gang in the city. Nobody wanted to be near him except for his cronies.
Her brother had been arrested for taking and selling drugs. Her mother had blamed it all on her that her beloved son was taken away from her. She had beaten her to near death.
Her mother was taken away to jail for embezzling money from the place she worked. Also for the fact that she was driving drunk and she had drugs in her system.
A family took her in for show. She lived in an apartment near her school and the family paid her expenses. The family was rich so they really didn't care what she spent.
High school, junior year. The family sent her to another state for it. They bought a small house for her and gave her a credit card and a bank account. They stopped contacting her and just supplied her with money.
