Mia Fey was just finished being channeled, by her sister and was ready to go back to eternal life.
"I hope I gave Maya the right advice back there," Mia said.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Mia quickly turned around to see Dusky Bridge burnt to a crisp. A man was at the other side of the bridge. He did look familiar. Mia tried getting a better look at him, when she noticed his face was really pale. He muttered something.
"Nick."
"!" Mia looked down at the river below. "No." She took no second thought as she dived into the raging river. When she surfaced she immediately looked for her former student.
She looked for several minutes before finding him being swept by the water. Mia grabbed him before his head went under the water. She tried keeping his head above the water while searching for a shallow place to swim to.
Mia lost her grip on Phoenix all of the sudden. She went under to see what happened. She saw his foot trapped in a root or something. She pulled on it so Phoenix's foot would go free.
"No! I can't let Phoenix be lost this way!"
Mia found the strength to set Phoenix free and grasped him, hoisting him up to the surface. By this time he felt ice cold and his head was heating up fast.
"Phoenix hang in there!" Mia finally found a place to swim to. It wasn't out of the water but it was surrounded by rocks from all sides except the way the current was going in. So it was the safest place. Mia hauled Phoenix over there.
"Dollie."
She wasn't sure if it was her imagination or Phoenix's pass for an audible sound. Either way she knew he was hurting.
'Oh Phoenix," Mia thought. 'She still haunts you to this day.' She held him closer to him.
She held him until she heard sirens. An ambulance pulled over at the other side of the river. She stayed up until Phoenix was in the ambulance and going to the hospital.
