Disclaimer: I own nothing, obviously.

Author's Note: This is just going to be a short little 'series' like touch, smell, taste, ect. I got the idea for this one and it wouldn't let me go to sleep until I wrote it. Then the rest just followed and that's when I decided to make it into a series. There will be probably 5 in total. This one's the Smell one.

Summer.

This is what she decided Brittany smelled like, late one night as she scooted closer to the warm, sleeping blonde and closed her eyes herself. She inhaled deeply and smelled it again. It wasn't like that smell that stirs up if you're in a large class (mostly sweaty football jocks or greasy-haired nerds who refused to bathe) with no air circulation whatsoever.

No, it wasn't that summer scent at all. But the one you get if you stand in front of an air conditioner on a hot, dry day, or right after a summer's rain when the sun is coming back out and you can smell the freshness of the ground in the air.

Santana nuzzled her nose deeper into her best friend's neck, breathing slowly. It was like the smell that comes from sitting around a campfire on a summer's night, it was also like the first step you took in the chilled, ice blue swimming pool.

She smelled the amusement parks with Brittany's favorite cotton candy and candy apples. Like waves washing silently up on the sandy beach, or like ice cubes as they melt in your freshly squeezed lemonade.

And there, in the middle of the night while the rest of the town was sleeping, Santana laid there cuddled next to the blonde in the way they had fallen asleep together since they were little, and decides that summer, maybe just this once, for just this reason, is her favorite season.
