John Marston in the dark of the night.
The sun was going down over the home of the Marston family, John was waiting at home for his wife and son to return from, Black Water.
John was sitting in the living room reading a book on ghosts and monsters, it was hard to believe that people would read this stuff, but at least it kept him from being board.
All of a sudden, there was a pounding noise at the front door! Hearing the loud noise, John jumped to his feet as he drew his revolver and slowly walked to the door. As he took a hold of the doorknob, the door swung open knocking him to the floor. Looking up he saw a frightened woman, standing over him with dirt and blood on her cloths.
"What happened to you mam, are you alright?" John asked getting to his feet, but the woman just stood there crying and shaking with fear.
"Miss, are you alright," John asked, "is someone after you?"
The woman looked at him and said in scared tone. "In the dark of the night they come. In fear they are strong, but we are weak," she said with tears running down her cheeks. "They are dead by dawn but at night they live. Fill your blood with silver to make yourself free from it!"
Suddenly the sound of a wolf was heard in the barn. John went out to the barn out to investigate, griping his revolver tightly, as his fear began to overtake him. As he entered the barn, there was blood covered claw marks leading up to the hay loft, looking up he saw a horrifying sight. A wolf like man. Taking aim at it, he fired two shots. The monster was hit in the chest were the heart was and the second shot hit it's right leg. The monster jumped down from the hay loft and knocked him up against the barn wall.
The monster ran and picked John up by the neck. John could feel the monster's grip tightening, he had to fight back, because he had just got back to being a father and a loving husband. Looking to his left he saw on the wood working table a hammer, reaching for it he saw the monster open it's mouth, ready to tear his throat out with it's teeth. In one quick move, he grabbed the hammer and brought it down on the monster's head, causing it to let go of him.
When he could feel that his feet were back on the ground, John did the one thing he could think of, and that was to run back to the house. As he exited the barn, he looked over his shoulder to see the monster chasing him.
"Get down!" yelled the woman holding a rifle.
John hit the dirt as she fired the rifle, the bullet hit it's mark, and monster fell to the ground dead. John then saw something that would haunt him to the day he'd die. The monster turned into a man that he knew all to well.
"Seth," John gasped in disbelief, "you got to be flipping kidding me. Old Seth is a six foot tall wolf?" turning his attention back to the woman, he could see that she knew something and now he was determine to find out what it was.
"Lady, I want the truth!" John demanded, anger burning inside of him. The woman just stood there with her head hanging low in sorrow for his friend. She looked at him and told the truth of what they were up against.
"My name is Jenny Cobb," the woman said lowering the rifle, "have you ever heard of werewolves mister?"
