Woot!

My first fic...I'm..so proud..

So anyway, besides giving myself stuff to do on the weekends, i'm actually writing this story so I can attract other authors that might need an editor (a beta, i think) for their own stories. If I get reviews, though, I will try to continue the story. BUT, if i get an editor-needing author and no reviews, say goodbye to this story...

I appreciate any comments or suggestions, so much that I will actually need you guy's votes and such later on. Stick around!

Please be courteous, though, as I am in school right now. I do not live on my computer.

Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto. Sadly.

Deceit:

Prolouge

I could never fall into a deep sleep when the full moon was out.

The extra– and most unwelcome light always flooded into my room. For me, who had lived in the shadows of my older brother, the darkness was my humble abode.

I guess you can understand why I was lying awake, listening to the early morning sounds of Konoha stir to life. I heard the routine noises of my district: the mail, the unloading of a delivery truck at a restaurant down the street, the senseless chattering of graveyard-shift workers on their way home, to a family that was probably dreaming about something stupid. How I envied them all.

But then there was the sound of a footstep on my linoleum flooring. It was so hesitant, so unplanned, that I was sure that it had not been meant to be heard at all. Right away, I tried to detect the chakra signal, but it was being masked, skillfully at that. Then, with an unusually loud thump of my heart, I knew exactly who it was. . .

I could remember that day well, with such strong clarity that it seemed that only a few hours had passed, instead of two years.

Me, my naive sixteen year old self, standing in the corner with a smile on my face, the late Sandaime with his chin rested on his hands, and some old guy with red lines painted down his face. Jiraiya, I think.

"Niwa Itsuwari."

Both men's eyebrows knitted together, eerily on cue.

"Your next mission." The Third motioned toward a folder on his desk, and obediently, I picked it up. I was busy leafing through it half heartedly when he began the briefing.

"This is a highly dangerous mission. Once I have finished, you have every right to decline."

That was definetly not a good start.

"With your background in the ANBU information extraction unit, we feel that you are best suited for this mission. I believe you know about the Akatsuki, correct?"

I nodded. Would I have to go assassinate someone? No, there were better people for the job here in Konohagakure. Unless they where all busy.

"We have made preparations for you to be recruited. Supposedly, one of their members will be leaving soon, and they will need to find a replacement. There is no guarantee that they will choose you, so to better the odds, we have tampered with your records. You will find your new transcript in the folder you are holding.

"You will also need months of preparation, both physically and mentally. Jiraiya will train you in combat techniques, until we are notified of a vacancy."

I inhaled deeply. The Third made it sound as if it was an available room at a hotel down the street.

I had never been an actress, but this time, I had to make my way into the Akatsuki, no less.

Damn it.

Review!

Note: Sorry it's so short, I should have a much, much longer chapter up tonight or tomorrow afternoon.
