Harry gets attacked by dementors. He can no longer work the patronus charm in order to protect himself. Nobody believes that Voldemort has returned. After a ferocious battle at the Ministry of Magic, Sirius dies.
Suddenly Harry is learning the patronus charm for the first time. Sirius has escaped from Azkaban & is trying to kill him. Voldemort's servant has escaped & is trying to set out to rejoin his master. Sirius turns out to be innocent, & offers Harry a place in his house.
Harry is upset bout Dumbledore's death. He now must be ready to embark on a life changing mission, impossible to complete. He somehow manages to complete the mission & Voldemort dies.
A basilisk controlled by Voldemort's soul terrorises the school. By a sheer combination of luck & skill Harry & Ron manage to kill it & save the school.
Harry is then thrown into a series of incredibly difficult & dangerous tasks, which result in an exceedingly painful experience in which Voldemort is reborn.
Suddenly, Harry discovers that he is a wizard, which explains a lot of his past. He goes off to a school with other wizards & as it turns out, He's Famous.
After the death of his Godfather, Harry is upset, although the possible arrival of Dumbledore does make things appear a bit brighter. After convincing an old wizard to come out of retirement, Harry takes private lessons with Dumbledore over the history of Tom Riddle. While searching for a way to ultimately defeat Voldemort, Dumbledore dies.
