I don't really know where this came from, but I just didn't feel like writing any of my other stories. So I came up with this! Yay! This is also sorts AU but only to the point of the time of Misa's death (Which does not occur BTW), and a few other details that I didn't bother to remember.

You Know I'm There

Misa looked around at the buildings around her. She felt the breeze rush past her hair, and the mist, fresh in her face. She had been planning this for months now. She couldn't live any longer. She had fallen into depression when she learned that Light died. But she couldn't bring herself to jump. She loved Light and couldn't bring herself to jump for him. She knew that somewhere he was shaking his head, telling her not to jump, but she couldn't delay any longer.

She had tried twice already, to commit suicide and twice she had failed. The long height had at first scared her, but she eventually brought herself to climb to the top of the building. She looked out and remembered that this wasn't just for Light. She would finally see her parents again and maybe she would die peacefully. It was an extraordinarily long drop, so she decided that it was going to be an instant death. She could feel Light and her parents around her and she collapsed and burst into tears. She sobbed and sobbed, telling herself over and over that this was for the best and that it was necessary if she ever wanted to be happy again.

She looked up and imagined Light's face in the clouds. She could almost see it, but every time she looked up at the cloud, Light would disappear and she would try to see him again. She looked all around her, tears stinging her eyes, at the buildings that Light had been to. She got up and sat on the edge of the couldn't jump. That would finally kill Light. She couldn't let the last of him go. If she jumped, Light would be truly destroyed.

She thought about Matsuda. She hated him now. But she couldn't ever remember a time when she liked him. Or even when she met him. She started to cry again, as she tried to remember the lost years of her life. She couldn't live without it. She kept on telling her self over and over that she would one day remember, and that this was only a phase. But no matter how hard she tried, or what she did, the memories never came. All she remembered was that she loved Light and now he was gone. She decided to get up and climb those stairs again, down to where the rest of the world was. As she got up and opened up the door, she heard the kind voice of Light, one last time, whispering in her ear, "I will always be with you. You will never be alone. You know I'm there."

She sadly smiled as she closed the door behind her.
