This is the story that was mentioned in one of the manga books. I believe it was book # 9, but I could be wrong. It was mentioned in the extra story, The Rain Shelter of Terror, and was supposed to be the next chapter after the story about the cockroach. Consequently, Shigure wrote it. Under a different name of course. How did Kyo and Yuki find out?
It was a quiet Thursday evening. The children were playing with the family dog in the living room, and the Father was smoking his pipe while reading the evening paper. It was a nice neighborhood with nice, respectable neighbors. It was hot outside, so not many people were out. The only outside noises were the crickets chirping, and the sprinklers watering the lawns.
The mother had just returned from visiting a friend, and wanted to start making dinner right away. She hadn't been to the store in a while, so she didn't know what was left in the fridge. She opened it, and the refreshing breeze caressed her face. She looked inside, and saw nothing of interest.
Wait a minute, she thought. She saw a jar of spaghetti sauce in the refrigerator door and took it out. She remembered buying the sauce for her younger son's birthday dinner. He just loved spaghetti. Now that she thought about it, there might be a box or two left. The mother went to pantry, and sure enough, there were exactly one box on the shelf.
Soon, a delicious smell swept through the house, making the dog and children stop their playing, and caused the father to look up from his paper. The husband got up and took some silverware out of the drawer and placed it upon the table. The little girl took down four plates, while the little boy got the place mats and napkins. After a few minutes, the spaghetti was on the plates, and steam was making the air above it even warmer than it already was. All that was missing was the grated parmesan cheese.
The mother went back to the refrigerator and checked the door. There was a green container of KRAFT® grated parmesan.
"Whatever is this doing here?" she thought. "I never bought this brand. Oh, well. Maybe I did."
Bringing the plates on a tray to the table, the mother smiled at her family. They all looked so happy, expecting yet another wonderful homemade meal. After passing the plates around, the mother took the grated cheese, and started sprinkling it on the little girl's plate. She was talking to her daughter about school while she did this, and she looked down to see if her little girl got enough of the cheesy goodness. When she did, she noticed that the cheese was…crawling. Thinking this peculiar, she looked closer, and screamed.
"MAGGOTS!" the woman screamed.
She dropped the container of cheese and maggots poured out onto the floor. The grubs scooted as fast as they could, attempting to avoid the frantic woman. By now, both the children were screaming, and the dog, who had been lying nearby, was jumping and barking. The only sane person (or creature) was the father, who by now had picked up the jar. He noticed a piece of paper taped on to the bottom of the container and took it off.
It read:
HAVE A GREAT DINNER!
- A NICE, RESPECTABLE NEIGHBOR
