Massie Block leaned against her white desk with her phone pressed to her ear. From afar, it seemed as if a normal, beautiful, to-be-eighth-grader was having a normal conversation with her friends. But up close, you could see the stress on her face, how her knuckles were white from clutching the phone.

"I don't know how to handle school tomorrow," Massie sighed. She sat down on her purple rug and started twisting the tassels. "Dumb Layne Abeley. It's all her fault. If she didn't think about acting LBR-plumber-like, the boys wouldn't be at our school."

"We trusted Layne, though. And Layne did help us," defended Claire Lyons. She was only a few yards away from Massie's room, sitting in the guesthouse, stretched out on her bed.

The Pretty Committee consisted of five rich girls (with the exception of Claire and Kristen): Massie Block, Claire Lyons, Alicia Rivera, Dylan Marvil, and Kristen Gregory. Claire had moved into Massie's a year ago, and they had started off as enemies but yet later grew a close friendship that bonded them together. They all attended Octavian Country Day private school for girls. However, this year wasn't going to be just for girls. The boys' school of Westchester, Briarwood, had recently crumbled down and the boys were forced to move into the girls' school.

Tomorrow was the first day of school and the Pretty Committee were stressing out on how to react to the boys. Sure, they were the most popular and prettiest girls, but they had ex-boyfriends at Briarwood and they felt certain they were going to be in their classes.

Why?

Massie and Claire had forced Todd earlier this day to go and find out what the boys' schedules were. Miraculously, they were the same.
