Last Breath.
The sun shone into the two Team 7 comrades eyes as they had finished talking. They now laid on the ground, next to each other, both bleeding profusely from the fight that had just went on between them. These two comrades were no other than Sasuke Uchiha and Naruto Uzumaki. The battle had finished with Sasuke's Chidori against Naruto's Rasengan. Which would prove equally fatal for them both. They had talked and talked; laughed and cried. And as it seemed all hope was gone, a certain pink haired kunoichi, followed by a familiar gray-haired Sensei approached the two comrades. Kakashi grimaced and Sakura could only put her hand over her mouth.
It didn't look good. Even without the Sharingan Kakashi could tell only one was going to make it out alive. They had lost too much blood, not to mention Sakura would need to restore some of their Chakra, too, and could she really do that? They had both fought, one with the intention to kill and the other with the intention to save. But neither of them expected this to be the result. And of course, both Naruto and Sasuke knew that only one would make it out alive at this point, too.
Naruto thought about everything that had happened between him and Sasuke. All the times he's tried to save him. He wouldn't let his hard work go to waste now. So he built up the courage and opened his mouth to speak; he was cut off by someone else, "Sakura.. Kakashi.. Naruto.. I'm sorry for everything I've put you through... We all know you can only heal one of us Sakura... So heal... Naruto. After all he won our fight," "WHAT KIND OF BULLSHIT IS THAT!? I TOLD YOU, THERE IS NO WINNERS FROM OUR FIGHT! SAKURA IS GOING TO-"
"Shut up..." All Naruto could do was stare at Sasuke, "I believe you can change the Shinobi world, Naruto. You're strong. People will look up to you. Besides, after all you've done for me, this is the least I could do to pay you back. Sakura, heal Naruto before it's too late." Sakura hesitantly did as said, choking back tears. After it was done, they all turned to Sasuke, in silence. It was too painful. After everything they've been through, to have to watch their comrade die like this. In the end it seemed that Naruto couldn't save him. He couldn't hold back the tears anymore. They streamed down his face. This didn't help Sakura hold in her tears, either.
For the last time, Naruto and Sasuke locked eyes, and Sasuke whispered something. Barely audible, but Naruto heard it clearly. He wouldn't miss Sasuke's last words. And those words would drive him from now on. They would be his support.
After Sakura has implanted Sasuke's Rinnegan in Kakashi, Team 7 returned to the others, with Sasuke's lifeless body. After undoing the tsukuyomi, they began to explain what happened afterwards, mostly Naruto, though. As he was the one who fought Sasuke. He recounted, the laughter, the tears and the smiling that both of them had shared. And finally he told them Sasuke's last words.
"Thank you, loser..."
