- A SkyeWard Story
A/N Hi Everyone! Okay so I have a new ONE-SHOT for you guys I will hopefully get another chapter up of Change Your Life up tomorrow if not tomorrow than sometime on Monday as I'm busy on Saturday and Sunday...BTW I might have two more chapters for Change Your Life :)
This story is set during season two (obviously) it is slightly AU because this is how I think 'What They Become" should have been like (There is also some angst/hurt in this, but then there is some fluff, because how can I write a SkyeWard story and not have FLUFF?) I will not be doing a second chapter of this story...
Before You Leave
"Please don't leave" said Skye sounding like a frightened child, as Ward Began walking to the door of the interrogation room at the Hydra base he brought her to. "I thought you hated me and didn't want to be anywhere near me" stated Ward slightly annoyed.
Skye was hurt that Ward had thought they way 'Well you were acting like a jerk to him in Vault D, why wouldn't he think you wanted to be near him' Skye thought to herself sadly.
"I don't hate you, I hate how you used us me, I hate how you used the team, and you did for a physcopath that didn't care about you!" yelled Skye with tears in her eyes.
"I didn't have a choice, Skye, It was either leave and never see you again while knowing that you would be safe and protected or have Garrett kidnap you and the team and possibly kill you all! He forced me to make a decision and I chose the option that I knew would be best for you and the team" said Ward apologetically trying to get Skye to understand. "I'm so sorry I hurt you and that I couldn't protect you better"
Suprising herself, Skye ran up to him and threw her arms around his neck and started to cry on his shoulder. When Skye ran to him he was shocked and stiffened, at first he didn't know what to do, so he did the only thing he could do, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer to his chest while trying to get her to stop crying. "It's okay Skye, I'm here" said Ward trying his best at trying to comfort her.
The couple stayed like that, Skye crying into Ward's arms while he was doing his best to comfort her, for a couple minutes until Skye started to pull back.
"Sorry I got your shirt wet" said Skye feeling slightly embarrased that she just cried on Ward's shoulder. "It's fine" said Ward wiping the tears off her face with his thumb. "Thanks" mumbled Skye.
They stayed in a content silence for a couple minutes before Skye broke the silence with a question she needed to ask.
"Why did you betray the team for Garrett, Grant?" asked Skye looking up at him.
"Because I owed him everything" said Ward looking down into her eyes.
"Why did you think that?" asked Skye.
"Because he saved me, and then when we kidnapped you from your van and you interragated me I instantly wanted out of Garrett's 'Master Plan' as he called it but he wouldn't let me" said Ward truthfully.
"How did he save you exactly?" asked Skye curiously.
"He broke me out of Juvie when I was fifteen" said Ward looking away.
"Why were you in Juvie in the first place?" asked Skye sitting down in the chair and grabbing Ward's hand so he could sit next to her.
"Because I tried to burn my families home with my brother inside the house" said Ward after he sat down next to Skye in the chair holding her hand.
"Did you know he was in the house?" asked Skye squeezing his hand reasurringly.
"No" said Ward truthfully he never did tell anyone he didn't know he brother was in the house he lied and told them he did.
"I believe you, Grant, but how did Garrett successfully break you out?" asked Skye.
"Some of the guards in the prison I was held in were working for Garrett, so it was kind of easy to get out" said Ward sqeeuzing Skye's hand that he was holding.
"Were they working for Hydra?" asked Skye.
"Yes they were, I didn't know at the time but I do now" said Ward.
"Wow, did he bring you to the Acadamy after that?" asked Skye curiously.
"No, he left me in the woods for four years with a dog, before I went to the Operations Acadamy under Garrett's orders so I could help take down SHIELD when the time was right" said Ward getting more angry with every word he said.
"He left you in the woods for FOUR YEARS! With no one there?!" yelled Skye and got up from her chair
"Skye calm down" said Ward calmly as he stood up and walked over to Skye "I'm here now aren't I?"
"Yeah, but that didn't give him the right to do that to you" said Skye as she wrapped her arms around his waist.
"I know it didn't but he did, and then later I found out my parents paid Garrett so they could get rid of me" said Ward as he wrapped his arms around her shoulders and hugged her to his chest.
"They did WHAT?! Why would they do that?!" asked Skye shocked at how people can not care about their kids.
"Because I think my mom never wanted me anyway" said Ward.
"Why would your mom not want you?" asked Skye pulling back slightly so she could look up at Ward.
"Because my dad had an affair with one of the maids, and my mom knew that he did but never said anything, until the maid found out she was pregnant and when mom found out she went crazy because 'she never thought he would do anything like that to her' and well nine months later I was born. After I was born my birth mother left me with my father, and when mom found out she didn't want anything to do with me so my dad said if she didn't want to be here than she could take Christian and leave, even though mom didn't like it she raised me like I was her son even though I wasn't, and then about three years later she had an affair with her high school sweetheart and got pregnant with Thomas, when he was born she didn't even notice Christian and I, it was like she never wanted us to begin with so she favored Thomas tried to keep him safe, but when he was seven, I was ten and Christian was 13, my parents left us alone in the house, because they went out to some party, and Christian took the opportunity and started hitting him, Thomas begged me to help him but Christian said that if I didn't stay where I was he would beat me too, I didn't believe he would do anything like that I went to stop him and he pushed me on the floor and started hurting me, when he was done with me he hurt Thomas even more, and when my parents came homw he blamed it all on me and made up a story of how I was beating Thomas up when he came into the room and tried getting me off of Thomas and then I pushed him out of the way and beat him up and when I was done I went back to hurt Thomas even more, needless to say my mom made me pay for hurting her baby" said Ward sadly.
"It wasn't your fault Grant, I can promise you it wasn't your fault, it was Christian's fault" said Skye reassuringly as she raised her hand to move over his cheek.
"I know it wasn't my fault, but for years Christian said it was my fault and I started to believe him, everytime he would beat Thomas he would blame it on me even though he beat me too, and then my mom would then beat me, once Christian beatings got worse they had to take us to the hospital, I almost never got treated, once in a while a nice nurse would take me to get checked on by a doctor, but more times than I care to count they didn't help" said Grant.
"I'm so sorry this happened to you, Grant" said Skye sadly.
"You don't have to be sorry" said Grant looking down at Skye. "I'm gonna get you out of here I promise" added Grant softly.
"How are you going to do that?" asked Skye.
"We are goingt to sneak past the guards, there isn't that many guards out there I promise, and as soon as I get you out we will go straight to Coulson and the team" said Grant.
"Thank you!" said Skye hugging him once more.
"Your welcome, but if we don't go now then we never will!" said Grant pulling back and taking her hand "By the way I managed to get the two ICER's you had and I also have two guns and a knife, you take one ICER and gun, and I'll keep the other ICER and gun as well as the knife" added Grant handing her one ICER and gun keeping the other ICER, gun and knife.
"Thank you for getting me out of here Grant" said Skye and she kissed him. Grant was slightly shocked that she kissed him but after a few seconds he kissed her back.
"Let's get out of here" said Grant opening the door and chacking to make sure there was no guards in the hallway. "Clear come on" said Grant taking Skye's hand and leading her out of the interrogation room.
When they came to the end of the hallway they took a left and continued down the hallway until two guards came up to them from the end of the hallway. Grant told Skye to stay behind him and shot them both with the gun.
"Nice shot, Robot" said Skye.
"I missed you calling me Robot, Rookie" said Grant smiling down at her.
I missed you calling me Rookie" said Skye smiling up at him.
"Come on before more come, we need to get to the hangar before they realise your missing" said Grant taking her hand and leading her in the direction of the hangar, they made it to the hangar without anyone else finding them. When they got to the hangar they quickly and quietly made it to a quinjet that nobody was using and quickly got in, Grant started the plane as fast as he could and started to fly the plane out of the hangar door.
"We did it! We actually made it out of there alive" said Skye happily from where she sat in the co-pilot seat looking over at Grant smiling once they were far enough away that they knew they weren't being followed.
"We did, There should be a SAT phone in the cupboard over there, once you find it you can call Coulson" said Grant as he pointed behind him to a cupboard.
"Okay" said Skye going over to the cupboard, grabbing the SAT phone she started dialing Coulson's number.
"Hi AC" said Skye.
'Skye? Is that you?' asked Coulson confused, after she put the phone on speaker.
"Yeah it's me AC" said Skye.
'I thought Hydra had you' said Coulson.
"They did, But Grant broke me out" said Skye smiling over at Grant after she sat down in the co-pilot seat.
"Grant, as in Grant Ward?" asked Coulson curiously.
"Yes" said Skye.
'Oh' said Coulson shocked.
"It that a bad 'oh' or a good 'oh'?" asked Skye curiously.
"I don't know yet" said Coulson truthfully.
"Okay, do you need the coordinates to the base Grant?" asked Skye.
"Yeah that would be very helpful" said Grant for the first time since Skye called Coulson.
"Ok I'll send them in a text after you hang up, but once you both get here I going to need to talk to Ward" said Coulson.
"Ok, See you later AC" said Skye.
"See you later Skye" said Coulson before hanging up.
"What do you think he wants to talk to me about?" asked Grant after a couple of minutes and after he put in the coordinates.
"Probably about why you saved me from Hydra" said Skye.
"Probably, we will be landing at the base in the next hour" said Grant.
"We were that close to the base?" asked Skye.
"Not that close but close enough. When we were about an hour and a half away from the Hydra base you finally talked" said Grant looking over at Skye.
"Well to be honest it did feel like longer than that" said Skye smiling at Grant when she saw he was looking at her.
"It did, I agree" said Grant turing his attention back to flying the plane.
*One Hour Later*
"Finally" said Skye as she started unbuckling herself from the co-pilot seat. Grant then turned off the engine and walked to the door with Skye right behind him.
"Yeah, it took us long enough" said Grant sarcastically to Skye rolling his eyes.
"Shut up Robot" said Skye after she smacked his arm.
"Make me Rookie" said Grant as he turned around to face her, so she kissed him, and he kissed her back.
What was just an innocent kiss turn into a heated make out session. When they pulled apart a couple minutes later because they needed air to breathe.
"Wow" said Skye.
"Yeah" said Grant as he rested his forehead against hers with his arms wrapped around her waist and hers around his neck.
"Even though I love being held by you we should probably go let Coulson know were here" said Skye.
"Okay" groaned Grant not wanting to let her go.
"I know, I hate the idea of Coulson wanting to talk to you to but you have to, we both know that" said Skye as she held out her hand for Grant to take which he took in his immediately.
As soon as Grant opened the door to the Quinjet they were faced with Couslon, May, FitzSimmons, Bobbi, Hunter and Mack. Skye immediately ran to hug Coulson first.
"I missed you so much AC" said Skye to her father figure.
"I missed you too Skye" said Coulson hugging her back.
Grant and the rest of the team watched the scene playing out in front of them with a smile on their faces. Skye than turned to May and gave her a hug which the woman was expecting.
"I missed you May" said Skye hugging her mother figure.
"I missed you too Skye" said May hugging Skye back.
"I missed all of you" said Skye unwrapping her arms from around May and went over to hug Jemma.
"Trust me when I say we missed you too Skye" said Jemma and hugged her best friend. Skye then went to hug Fitz.
"I'm glad your back home safe" said Fitz.
"Me too" said Skye smiling. She then walked back over to where Grant was, took his hand and walked over to where the team was standing.
"I have one question" stated Bobbi.
"What would that be?" asked Skye.
"Did he hurt you?" asked Bobbi glaring at Ward.
"No, I would never hurt her" said Grant for the first time since they arrived.
"I don't believe you" said Bobbi. "And I asked Skye not you"
"Quit it! No he didn't hurt me and he never will" said Skye squeezing Grant's hand reassuringly.
"Enough Bobbi! As long as your not hurt, we believe you" said Coulson looking at Bobbi and then at Skye and Ward.
"I would never hurt Skye, If I did I would be out of my mind" said Grant.
"And I believe you Ward" said Coulson walking over to Skye and Ward.
"You do?" asked May.
"Yes I do" said Coulson. "Before you came here I talked to Skye and she was able to tell me what happened to you when Garrett broke you out of Juvie"
"He was in Juvie? I didn't see that coming" said Hunter.
"Why were you in Juvie?" asked Tripp curiously.
"That is for me, Skye, and Coulson to know" said Grant.
"Grant, it's fine I won't tell them" said Skye turning to face him.
"I know you won't" said Grant resisting the urge to lean down and kiss her.
"Okay enough, May and Ward please come with me" said Coulson motioning to May.
"Okay" said Grant slightly nervous.
"There is no need to be nervous Grant, I'll be waiting for you, I promise" said Skye as she leaned up to kiss him with him immediately kissing her back.
"I guess I better go" said Grant when they pulled away a couple minutes later.
"See you later Robot" said Skye.
"See you later Rookie" said Grant leaning donw to place a quick kiss to her lips.
When he left to follow Coulson and May to his office FitzSimmons, Bobbi, Mack, Hunter and Tripp came over to her.
"Why did you kiss him?" asked Jemma.
"Because, I love him" said Skye after a moment.
"Fitz you owe me ten bucks" said Jemma turning to Fitz.
"Fine" said Fitz slightly annoyed that his girlfriend won a bet from almost eight months ago. Skye, Bobbi, Hunter, Mack and Tripp gave them questioning looks.
"Fitz and I had a bet"-
"To see how long it would take"-
"For either you or Ward to finally"-
"Admit your feelings for one another"-
"And I won that bet" finished Jemma with a smile on her face.
"I kinda missed you two finishing each others sentences" said Skye with a smile. After that they all went to the 'family room' as Skye called it and waited for Ward, May and Coulson to come down.
**An Hour and A Half Later**
"Hey Robot" said Skye as Grant came in the room followed by Coulson and May.
"Hey Rookie" said Grant as soon as he saw Skye and went to sit next to her.
"We need to talk about something with all of you" said Coulson as he sat down in a chair.
They all stopped what they were doing to listen to what Coulson had to say.
"May and I have decided, that Ward will be joining the team again, now do any of you have a problem with that?" asked Coulson. They all shook there heads no. "Good, you are all dismissed for tonight, and you all have a day off tomorrow, Welcome back Ward" said Coulson patting the younger man on the back before he left to go back to his office as May gave Ward a nod of the head and followed after Coulson.
"Welcome back Ward" said Jemma happily. "Thanks" said Grant.
"Welcome back" said Bobbi and Hunter. Grant just gave them a nod of the head.
The most suprising of all was Fitzs' reaction. Fitz ran up to his brother figure and hugged him. Grant being shocked soon got over it and hugged Fitz back. "Welcome back Ward" said Fitz when he pulled away. "Thanks Fitz" said Grant.
"We should probably leave these two lovebirds alone, come on" said Hunter leaving the room with FitzSimmons, Bobbi, Mack and Tripp following him.
"Welcome back Grant" said Skye before she leaned over to kiss him to which he immediately kissed her back.
