One day, an Emperor of the Humans sat before a Lord of the Jungle – the one he had caged and collared– seeking advice.

"Do you remember your father, Sangha? Was he a great Lord of the Jungle?" the Emperor scoffed at his own words before lowering his voice to a whisper, "Mine was.

"Did all the creatures shrink in his shadow as," he stumbles a little, "as it was with mine?"

A long pause and Sangha can barely contain his rage at the next question.

"Was yours disappointed in his son?"

How dare –

"No, perhaps yours was not."

He never had the chance to be. Your country folk saw to that! Cruelty is the cause of it all.

"So, you, too, think that one must be cruel in this world?"

Yes.

"That one must be cruel to gain respect?"

Yes.

The Emperor of the Humans stood, holding the gaze of the Lord of the Jungle, before quietly departing.
