It was a bright morning. The birds were chirping, the sun was shining and Maito Gai was sitting in bed grininng as if teletubies were dancing in his backyard.
One might ask why Gai was this happy today. the answer?
He was going to make a mud pie.
Gai always saw the youths making these 'mud pies' and of course was over eager to make one himself.
Jumping out of bed Gai quickly got dressed into his usual attire and left his house heading to the ninja academy.
Seeing as it was recess when he got there he plopped down next to a young boy in a pile of mud.
"YOSH!!!!" Gai yelled quickly molding the mud. The boy next to him, scared, fled.
15 minutes later Gai wiped his forehead, which only succeeded in making it more filthy, satisfied.
He slowly stood up, as if not to harm his creation.
Once standing he held out what was supposed to be a mud pie but only succeeded in looking like a disfigured box.
"PERFECT!!!" the jounin gushed.
Rushing home he put the mud pie in the oven, after all it was a pie, it needed to be baked.
Right?
Gai set a timer to go off in 15 minutes so he could go clean off his jumpsuit.
After all, he would not have Kakashi out looking him.
-15 minutes later-
Gai excitedly hovered over his oven. seconds later the timer went off.
Not even bothering to put on ovenmits, he took out his 'pie'.
What he saw was NOT what he expected.
...It was mush.
Gai, not believing what he saw just stared at it.
A couple of moments later reality sunk in and he burst into tears.
"H-how could this be?!?!?!" the jounin whimpered.
Seconds later the doorbell went off.
Solemnly getting off the kitchen floor, he answered the door,
and was utterly surprised to find Kakashi standing there...holding a steaming hot pie "wha-" Gai was cut off when Kakashi started to talk, "I was worried because you hadn't done anything stupid all month. so i went and talked to Iruka and he said a student reported seeing you molding something out of the mud.
It only took me one guess as to what you were doing so i made a pie seeing as yours failed." his visible eye curved up so Gai assumed he was smiling.
"I'LL BEAT YOU NEXT TIME KAKASHI!!!!" Gai yelled pointing his index finger at the silver haired man.
"sure sure, next time Gai" Kakashi said sarcastically.
