Summary: I was bored and this popped into my head to what can I say I'm an insomniac, lol! Snape kills harry find out why.

It was too easy really, in fact professor Snape could hardly believe it was over, he was free. All the careful, meticulous planning from both sides of the war and Snape was able to snuff Harry out just by Harry's misguided trust in him. A simple overdose of sleeping potion and the boy who lived, lived no longer.

The climatic ending between light and dark, good and evil that everyone had anticipated would happen was crushed. It reminded Snape of a muggle poem he once had the misfortune of reading, the finishing lines were "This is how the world ends not with a Bang, but with a whimper." And it was true. He was sure there would be questioning disbelief if and when he finally met up with those few on the light side who knew him as a double agent if they lived long enough, that is. He doubted that they would ever know or understand that he had given up on the light side long ago.

The truth was simple and repulsive really, one that he doubted those on the light side could understand because they were not marred by the evilness and darkness such as he. He gave up because he realized that fighting for the light was pointless in his case. He gave up his naïve notions that great deeds were going to wash away his past sins and redeem him. His soul had been tainted and stained and there was no magic soap in the world that could wash that away.

He was far to caught up in both camps to make a clean break so he chose the best option for himself that he could, he was slytherin after all. He had already committed vile atrocities in the past and he doubted a few more atrocities would hurt. He didn't believe there was a measuring system for how many or much vileness you commit, only that you commit it. And this was the truth if he wasn't going to be saved through good deeds then he wasn't going to bother and to pretend to care was a waste of time so he ended it with a simple potion and the trust of a young boy who was once the boy who lived.
