AN: This is my first shot at fanfic. It is unbeta'd so I'd appreciate any constructive criticism =). Enjoy the story!

It was hard to breathe. It hurt to walk. It was impossible to see. Yet, he could make out the blurry outline of his little brother. He was close. So close.

There was Sasuke, his weakened, cornered, desperate little brother Sasuke. Itachi wouldn't die yet. He needed to hold on a little longer. He took a step forward and ignored the rain that was beginning to soak his clothing, making it heavier. He continued to move forward.

I need to get to Sasuke. It will be over soon.

He repeated in his head like a mantra as he trudged over to where his brother was standing. Sasuke made feeble attempts to keep him back, for him to stay away. That was exactly what Itachi was determined not to do. Susanoo prevented his trajectories from touching Itachi. It was a relief, moving was difficult as it is, dodging or blocking any attacks was out of the question in his current state.

He stood in front of him now. Sasuke looked afraid. For the first time since the Massacre, his little brother looked at him in fear. It was somewhat fitting; to have the same face from whence he began to walk the path of hatred to when he finally reached the end.

Itachi wasn't able to examine his face for long, his vision was fading fast. It didn't matter now, he was at his destination. He would see the light soon.

Itachi's arm reached out. Sasuke's eyes widened. Itachi's face adopted an apologetic smile. He poked his brothers' forehead. "Sorry Sasuke, but this is the last time".

The lightning crashed around them.

Itachi's body pitched forward and smacked the wall, and fell to the ground. The surviving Uchiha stood still for a moment, as if he was stuck in a state of transfixion. After a long pause, he turned to the ground to look at his brother lifeless form. The lighting lit the sky as smile crossed his face. This was the goal he was aiming for after all these years. His plan was a success.

"Thank you Sasuke, for being my light" he muttered to his former fallen form. Unable to hold himself up anymore, he fell to the ground, exhausted.

And the rain continued to pour.

AN: Don't get me wrong, Itachi is one of my favourite characters. This was what I originally thought Itachi did when I first read Chapter 394. I didn't think Itachi would have died that easily. I suppose he did -_-

I'm also not sure if this should be continued or just remain a one-shot. It all depends on the reviewers, so go ahead and submit a review =)
