Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or any of the characters involved. This great honor goes to the wonderful Ms. J. K. Rowling, whom I had a chance to meet in NYC in October.
This story is written for the Movie Quotes Drabble Challenge! The assignment was to give Toujours tu a list of movies that you love, and he/she chose a quote for you to use, and a pairing to work off of. I was given Dirty Dancing (let's see if you can spot the quote), and I chose to use Harry/Ginny as my pairing. I am a little nervous because I have never attempted a drabble before (word count for story: 380), so feedback would be much appreciated. Enjoy!
I'd be standing here dead
It was a very busy day at the Burrow as Rose Weasley was preparing to soon become Rose Malfoy. Today was her wedding day, and she was busily getting ready with her maid of honor, Lily, and her matron of honor Ginny, whom she looked up to as a second mother. The trio was talking about relationships as they were having their hair professionally done.
"So Aunt Ginny, how did you and Uncle Harry fall in love?" asked Rose. Ginny smiled widely as her mind drifted off to younger days.
"I want you girls to know that if it were not for this man, I'd be standing here dead," she began. The two younger girls gasped.
"Mum, are you referring to when dad saved you from the basilisk in your first year?" Lily asked, although she already knew that it was most likely true.
Ginny smiled at her daughter and nodded. "It was that moment when I truly started to fall for your father. It was no more just an infatuation, but there was truly something there, and I realized that he, deep down, cared for me as well. I was set to do anything possible to ensure I would end up with him. Even if it meant making him a little jealous by dating the wrong guys," she whispered as the girls snickered a little.
For the next hour, as the three of them prepped and got dressed (Rose being helped into her dress, of course), Ginny recalled many stories from her Hogwarts years, primarily her sixth and seventh year, all focused around her relationship with Harry. With a mere twenty minutes before Rose was to walk down the aisle to the man whom she loved, cared for, and was ready to commit to, she was ready with one more simple question.
"Aunt Ginny, I can now truly see how deeply in love you and Uncle Harry are, more than ever before. Do you have any last piece of advice?" she asked.
"Be ready to walk through death for your man. Because if he truly loves you, he will go to all ends of the earth to bring you back," Ginny told her as she stood to hug her beautiful niece, as they finished preparing for the big day.
