Bella sat on the couch staring at the still smoldering Christmas tree. Alice stood ready with a fire extinguisher, her gaze determined. The Christmas tree was covered with a thick layer of white foam but it was still smoking. Alice stepped closer and sprayed the tree again.
"Just for good measure," she stated at Bella's questioning look.
Bella shook her head and ran a hand through her hair. "I'm sorry Alice, it was an accident. I just saw one of the bulb's out and…"
Alice set the extinguisher down on the coffee table and gracefully sat with her legs tucked under her next to her lover. Smiling she took a silky strand of Bella's hair, twirling it between her fingers before tucking it behind Bella's ear.
"It's okay Bell-a. I shouldn't have gotten a real tree anyway. The smell was much too strong."
Bella wrinkled her nose, a small smile playing on her lips. "It was very strong."
Giggling, Alice kissed Bella's cheek. "I'll get a new tree tomorrow… a pretty fake one."
