A Little Too Late
I guess we all just expected that one day they'd just fall into bed together. You know? Somehow, like they'd break the regs, or he'd retire, or she'd resign, or something. We all just assumed they'd be together.
There's always been that undeniable attraction between them, even General Hammond noticed it. There's always been that chemistry. Jack even told me once, that he thought he might actually love her. And stupidly we all just assumed.
Then there was Pete. At first I thought it might be good for her. She needed someone in her life, she needed to have a relationship every now and then. I figured it wouldn't last long and I guess so did Jack. But that's the way it goes.
We were wrong, all of us. None of us had ever thought he might be a threat. We always thought she loved Jack. Maybe she did. Maybe she still does. Maybe Jack waited just a little too long, and realised his mistake just a little too late.
