A/N: Here is a short little baby ficlet for Emma/Will. It's my first Glee fic, so hopefully you'll like it.

You're disgusted-but you don't dare to acknowledge it.

Everything must be neat and nice and nearly new.

You feel like fainting, because that damn smell is permeating through your skin, taunting your nostrils. All the microbes clinging to your body, gnawing at your health and your sanity.

Alone, at your desk, you begin to feel the weight of all unholiness press down upon you. It forces you to succumb to what you hate-impurity.

The unclean thoughts that run through that brain of yours go hand in hand with the germs you fight away chivalrously.

You smell that smell, and it refuses to go away.

Your pleading thoughts do not even shake it.

He walks in the room, a kind half-smile adorning his face.

"Hey Emma."

"Will!" you greet anxiously. It is only now that you see your hands fiercely gripping your wooden desk, "Do you need anything? I'm free...for...now." Your breathing gets heavy.

On your mental to-do list, you remind yourself to curse your diaphragm.

"Um...no, actually. I'm good."

"Oh," you nod rapidly, eyes wide and attentive. You think he notices your lips shaped in a perfect "o", but you wouldn't dare to acknowledge it.

"I was just coming her to catch up. It's been a while."

"Two days, Will. Just two days."

How can he be so nonchalant? It torments you. His lackadaisical attitude towards you adds to that horrid smell and all that goes with it.

You know it will never go away.

"How did your date go?"

"Fine. It was good. The...um...tulips smelled nice."

He can detect your lie. Nothing smells nice. Nothing at all.

Everything is tainted, slandered, ruined and destroyed.

"Good, good. Look, Emma, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have made you think that I care about- not that I don't care about you, I do. Jesus, what am I trying to say?" You've never seen him babble like this, perhaps that scares you.

You vibrate your head up and down once again, blinking with the motion.

"I get it, Will."

He leans in for a hug and you oblige.

Something is different.

Inhale.

Nothing in the world has ever smelled like this.

Now, you only smell him.
