THE REAL GOOD-BYE
DISCLAIMER
One-shot companion piece to "Hunting Partners". Takes place during "The Party's Over". Belongs to the CW. Lindsey never existed, and Sam and Rory have never slept together.
WHAM! Though the impact was hard enough to knock the wind out of her, Rory Gilmore barely felt it. All she was aware of were Sam Winchester's hands on her arms and his lips on hers.
"Sam. Sammy, Sammy," Rory murmured.
"Rory. Rory, oh, Rory," Sam muttered.
"Your lips feel so good," Rory said, as he kissed her neck.
"So do yours," Sam agreed.
"I wish you didn't have to leave," Rory pouted.
"You remember the plan, right?" Sam checked.
"I pretend to be late for a date, you pretend to break up with me, and that's that," Rory confirmed.
"Good girl," Sam told her. They continued the passionate kiss. Then, he finally broke away and Rory moaned disapproval.
"Sorry, baby. I gotta go. Evil's a foot," Sam reminded her.
"And you've gotta make sure it doesn't take another step," Rory said. He nodded. With a sigh, Rory slid a finger down Sam's cheek. Then, with a longing look, he pulled away. The next day, Rory put the plan into action. She made a big show of asking the time and looking at her watch. Then, she rushed outside. Sam played his part well, making a speech about how they were from different worlds and they didn't belong together anymore. Then, he took off in his truck. When Rory came home, Lorelai could tell she was drunk.
"Well?" she asked, as she came into the house. The door closed.
"Sam left. And I miss him already," Rory sobbed.
"Oh, baby," Lorelai soothed, taking her daughter into her arms. Though she knew about their planned parting, she could tell that the real good-bye had hurt even worse.
