note:

Hey guys. This one's for my friend Gumi. Here's that angst I'd been writing all night and referencing throughout our conversation. XD Next time I'll write you something more cheerful. Hope you like it.

If it wasn't the fact that his heartbeat was steadily fading out, or the fact that his eyes were threatening to close for the last time, then it was the way his smile never faltered that tore her heart to pieces. Who would've thought that such a simple thing like that could cause so much pain? Something as simple as that.

But even when all he could taste were her tears and all she could see was his blood, that ghostly smile never left his face. His whisper merged into the howling of the wind and the screaming of the girl dying alongside him. She strained to hear him, with blue hair streaked in that deep red pooling around her shoulders and brushing his face.

And with that she fell. Her ragged lungs gathered all the air she could possibly get in a last attempt to scream out his name. One last time.

She never wanted to wither this way. She needed to stay tall. For him. But even the strongest take their plunges from time to time. And their time had come. It had come all too soon.

She took his hand in her own. But try as he might, he couldn't find the strength to hold her back the way he wanted to, leaving her with even less hope. They were both cracking and shattering like ice. And there was so little time left.

So.

Little.

Time.

That smile continued haunting her as tears made her vision blurry, distorting his face. Hurriedly wiping her eyes as to not lose sight of him, she moved his dark hair away from his eyelids that were fighting to stay open. No sooner had she done this, when his breath suddenly hitched, and his eyes found hers one final time before he breathed an 'I love you' and took his last breath. She froze and watched as his eyes dimmed until they were as gray as his name.

And then the rain came. Because Juvia knew she couldn't live without him. And yet there she was. Still breathing. Unlike him. The one who had given her the life she possessed had lost his own.

Then the tremors shook her as her resolve crumbled and the corners of her vision began to grow hazy. She couldn't stop her head from falling down beside his. The last thing she saw before everything went black were those gray lifeless eyes, once so full of life and love. Not pertaining to her definition of gray at all. And that lost echo of a smile still etched upon his face. And then her demons took her under.

No idea where that came from. XD Try listening to Blinding by Florence & the Machine if you want. Good song. I listened to it while I wrote some of this. Review? Reviews are loved. :3

Also: sorry for recent lack of updates, things are just busy and crazy and whatnot. But I promise I'll get around to it soon. :3 Thanks guys.

Until Then.
