Summary: Natsu has a nightmare.

One

Blood. Golden hair. Brown eyes.

"Lucy?"

More blood. Natsu tripped on something.

"W-what..?" He breathed, reaching his hand out.

He felt something. A face.

"N-no.."

He felt the cuts decorating the cheeks and forehead.

"Please, oh god no.." Natsu mumbled, sitting on his knees. His body was shaking and numb.

He quickly opened his palm and felt the strong smell of blood drift into his nose.

Natsu lit his hand on fire and looked infront of him.

Lucy.

His Lucy.

If he could, he became more numb. A shiver crept up his spine.

Messy golden hair, faded brown eyes, ripped clothing, wounds everywhere on her body.

And the blood.

Oh Mavis, there was so much blood-

And so many cuts decorating her beautiful body-

And those haunted brown doe eyes-

"Natsu?"

Oh my Mavis, she was dead and-

Was that a knife in her stomach?

"Natsu!"

Why is there so much blood?

He felt his throat closing in on itself and found it hard to breathe.

"N-no.."

"Natsu, wake up!"

His eyes opened in a flash. White ceiling. Pink walls.

Where was he?

"Natsu?" An all-to-familiar voice asked in a whisper.

The pinkette couldn't move. He didn't want to move.

He didn't know where he was, but he didn't care. Lucy was dead.

Lucy is dead, Lucy is dead, Lucy is dead, Lucy is dea-

A pair of strong, thin arms wrapped around his shoulders and forced him to sit up.

His lungs burned. His chest heaved up and down, struggling to keep a steady breathing.

"You're okay, Natsu. You're okay," The voice mumbled against his ear.

Suddenly, everything came back to him in a flash.

A few days ago, he went on a job with Lucy and Happy. It was pretty simple; clear out a bandit camp which took two days.

When they returned to Magnolia, they all went to Lucy's apartment and suprisingly the blonde hadn't tried to kick them out because of exhaustion.

And then he fell asleep in her bed.

So Lucy wasn't dead. He was in her arms, the blonde whispering comforting things in his ear.

Natsu slowly wrapped his arms around her waist and kept his grip tight as if she would disappear at any time.

"Y-you're.." He began quietly, head buried in Lucy's shoulder as he took in all of her sweet scent. Vanilla and strawberry.

"..Alive. You're a-alive, not d-dead.." He chocked out, his grip tightening.

"Dead?" Lucy echoed as she attempted to pull back so she could look at her best friend and companion, but he didn't let her. He needed to know that she was indeed alive and breathing and in his arms and-

"Y-yea.." He found himself say, shaking slightly. Natsu took a deep breathe that made him shudder.

"I-in my n-nightmare, you w-were d-d-dead a-and-" The pinkette found himself struggling to speak. The back of his throat hurt, his eyes were stinging, his lungs burned and his body was covered in a thin layer of sweat.

"T-there was a k-knife stuck in your s-s-stomach and the b-blood- oh jesus, there was so m-much blood and.. a-and.." He paused and felt Lucy's hand rubbing his back in different motions which relaxed his tense muscles.

"Ssh, ssh, it's alright, you don't have to say it. I understand. I'm right here, all right? I'm not injured, see?" Lucy said quietly as if she was talking to a scared animal or child.

"I-I know.." Natsu stammered. "I'm p-probably overreacting, g-getting all e-emotional over a s-stupid dream," He forced a chuckle.

Lucy pulled away from the hug and kept her hands on his shoulders.

"Don't say that!" She scolded. "You have every right to be sad and scared when you saw something like that, okay? In no way are you overreacting." She said.

"M-me? Scared?" Natsu laughed quietly, yet there was no humor behind it. "I'm f-fucking terrified."

"Don't be. I'm not going anywhere, alright?" Lucy said, offering him a soft smile that said 'everything's gonna be okay'.

"Y-yeah.. sorry for waking you u-up by the way." Natsu mumbled, looking down at his lap. Lucy shrugged it off. "It's fine; let's just get back to sleep, eh?" She suggested, already laying down and pulling the covers up to her shoulders.

"Yea," Natsu repeated more quietly, laying down beside her.

Lucy shuffled closer and pressed her face against his chest and wrapped her arms around his waist. Natsu draped an arm over her and used the other as a pillow.

"Good night."

"G'night."

After a few seconds, Natsu opened his tired eyes. "Hey, Luce," He whispered quietly.

"Hm?"

"Promise me you won't ever leave me?"

"Promise."

Natsu smiled and felt Lucy snuggle closer to him, lifting up her legs so they wrapped around his thighs.

After a few minutes, he looked at his blonde partner to see her sleeping. He closed his eyes and buried his nose in her hair.

"I love you." He murmured quietly, scooting closer to her so that they're bodies were flushed against eachother.

After a few seconds, Natsu heard the quietest mumble from Lucy. "Love you too."
