Missing heart
Hera was wandering around on earth, she had lost track on just how long she had been going around in the rain or where she was. Frankly she didn't care about where she was or that it was her tears of sadness that caused the rain.
In the end it didn't matter, at this point nothing did.
Not as long as the other part of her heart was missing. That part of her heart was her husband Zeus, he was with his pregnant mistress, a Greek woman by the name of Stella. In Hera's eyes she wasn't even worthy of that name or being a mistress of her husband. She was not a star, she wasn't even that beautiful, and the cruel irony of it all was that she was pregnant as well. She had known for some time now, but she hadn't gotten around to tell her husband yet as she hadn't seen him in some time now as he had been with Stella.
She sank down in the cold, wet sand, her dress now as glued to her body due to the cold rain. Hera didn't care, why should she, even if she got really ill from the rain, she couldn't die. She was immortal, one of the advantages of being a goddess. At least she would be for as long as people believed in her and that they would as she was the patroness of marriage and child birth. Without here there wouldn't be blessed marriages or newborn children.
In fact she had even been present to the birth of some of her husband's bastard children. Only the ones she felt were worthy of course, which wasn't all that many…
Now she however was sitting in the rain, crying her heart out to a man that failed to see her. To a husband that claimed he loved her more than life.
How could he, how dared he even to claim that, when he found a new mistress quicker than she could say his name. She was tired of lecturing him about the matter, tired of telling him what he should or should not do. Tired of saying the phrase, "Why am I not enough for you, Zeus?"
So very tired, so very frustrated and at this point so very lonely.
It was then at the point of desperation, she heard his voice call her name like thunder before lightning. His very distinct velvet rumble. Still she didn't turn to face him, how could she when he had hurt her so?
Without even noticing the thin white dress she had been wearing got torn apart by the rain, making her naked. Making him see her growing belly, making him realize it wasn't only his mistress that was expecting, but also his beloved wife.
"Oh Hera," he whispered in his softest tone, daring to come closer.
As he came closer she withdraw, but that didn't stop him. He carefully not to harm her lifted her up in his strong arms, and carried her back to their home. She struggled at first, but in the end she settled and hid her face in his shoulder, whispering, "Please, don't leave me again, I just couldn't take it if you did."
"I won't," he whispered back, kissing the top of her head, holding her ever so close. He meant every word as he knew now he had had gone too far, after all she was with his child and it was with her he belonged. She was what was making him whole.
As for Hera, she would never again feel like one piece of her heart was missing as Zeus would never leave her side after that. Seeing her naked in the rain was something he couldn't live with and he didn't want to see that again, so he never left. He heart would forever be whole and she would never worry about him running off again.
Feedback always welcome and very much appreciated :o)
