"Mom, I don't even like boys" 8-year-old Theodosia argued with her mother, "All they like is dirty stuff and looking at girls". "Look, Papa has to have a meeting with Mr. Hamilton", Theodosia Sr. said, "so please at least get along with his son".

"But what if I don't like him" asked Theodosia, "Papa doesn't get along with Mr. Hamilton".

Theodosia Sr. bent down to her level. "You might not never know" she said. The doorbell rang. "That's them, already" said Theodosia Sr. said, "Aaron, Alexander is here".

Her parents greeted Alexander and Phillip. "This is my daughter Theodosia" Aaron introduced his daughter to Alexander. "Nice to meet you" Theodosia curtsied.

"Nice to meet you too, miss" he replied, "This is my son, Phillip".

While Aaron and Alexander talked in the office, Theodosia and Phillip were left to play in the play room. Theodosia was still skeptical of Phillip. She watched as he looked around, studying her toys. "You're not really talking much" said Phillip. "So?" asked Theodosia.

"So. we should at least get to know each other".

"How? My dad hates your dad"

"Who cares what they think?"

"I don't know, maybe.. The whole country" Theodosia sarcastically replied.

Phillip spotted a piano sitting against the wall. "You play piano?" he asked.

"Yeah. Do you?"

"Yeah. My mom taught me"

"My mom taught me too. Well, I learned when I was 4"

Phillip sat at the piano and began to play the piano. "You're really good" said Theodosia. "Thanks" Phillip replied, "Do you want to play?"

"Sure" she said. She sat down next to him and followed his fingers as they danced across the piano keys. She followed along with the melody until their hands met and bumped into each other. Theodosia wanted to take her hands off of the keys, but for some reason, she didn't.

"You know, you're not so bad yourself", he said.

"Yeah" Theodosia replied.

"I made up this rap on my birthday. Do you want to hear it?"

"Sure" said Theodosia. Phillip stood in front of her and began to rap:

My name is Phillip

I am a poet

I wrote this poem just to show it

And I just turned nine

You can write raps, but you can't write mine

I practice French and played piano with my mother

I have a sister but I want a little brother

My daddy's trying to start America's bank

Un,deux, trois, quatre,cinq!

Theodosia chuckled and clapped. "That was great" she said. "Thanks" Phillip smiled, "Hey, if you'd like, I could write one for you"

"Sure, I would like that"

Phillip stared at Theodosia for a minute. He actually thought she was pretty. He never thought he'd be into girls, but he never thought he'd meet a girl this gorgeous looking. "We should hang out sometime" he said.

"I think so too" she smiled. Alexander walked into the room. "Phillip, it's time to go" Alexander said. The two met their parents downstairs and they said goodbye to each other. "Well, see ya, Theodosia" Phillip said. "See you" Theodosia smiled. She watched as Alexander and Phillip walked out of the Burr household. "Did you enjoy spending time with Phillip?" Aaron asked.

"Yes" she nodded. To her, Phillip didn't really seem like the type of guy she would hang out with, but maybe she does like him. She was never a fan of boys, but she thought to herself that maybe he could be different. She was very unsure.
