My name is Abbie Nicole. I have dirty blonde hair and see green eyes. My days are filled with helping my mom make nets, swimming, and fishing with my best friends Maddie and Jason.

I love swimming. It's amazing. It's like flying. So smooth and calming. And today is no exception.

I wake up early in the morning as always and get dressed in a 1-piece swimsuit with shorts and flip-flops. My family only has these because we are one of the luckier families. I grab a towel and head off to see Maddie and Jason.

We all meet up at our normal place, the ocean a bit farther back from my house. Jason as usual brings all the equipment for fishing. We pack it into the seacrest (my boat I got as a present last year) and then Jason rows us out to where when I jump in I'm up to my waist. I take off my shorts and flip-flops and then dive under. I feel the warm water all around me. Maddie splashes in too as I resurface. Jason puts the paddles in the boat and jumps off, splashing us with water.

We swim around for awhile and have a few splashing wars, and as the sun rises we get to work. Maddie and I set out the nets and and Jason gets some spears ready.

We spend the whole day fishing and swimming as usual. At the end of the day we get 42 fish, 20 clams, and 10 lobsters. It's a good haul so each of us get to keep some fish.

We all drag everything into the seacrest and Jason rows us back to shore. We take the required amount of fish to a boat that takes all the fish to the capitol. We put the clams and lobsters in too. I look at the sun setting, and see it is late. "I've gotta go,"I say to Maddie and Jason. "Okay," says Maddie. I wave as I walk off and they do the same.

Mom greets me at the door and I immediately set to work with the nets. My hands dance over the net in a rhythmic pattern turning regular string into beautifully woven net. Mom does the same. About an hour later Mom is starting to cook dinner, fish. Now and then we get lobsters or clams but not now, especially a week before the reaping. At this time the capitol takes a lot more for the tributes and sponsers, prep teams and of course them. The idea of the reaping gets me a little scared but it's a week from now so I just push it from my mind.

I help Mom cook the food and set up the table. Dinner for two. My dad died in a fishing accident four years ago when I was twelve. I am sixteen now. We eat in silence. I finish first so I go to my room and tidy up a bit. Pick up my pajamas and fold and put them on my bed. Dust a bit with my hands, straighten things although there isn't much to straighten. By now I'm so tired. I take off my bathingsuit and hang it up to dry overnight. I put the towel beside it and my shorts back, folded, into my closet on a shelf. Then I put on my pajamas and crawl in bed.
