Nymphadora Tonks paced up and down Teddy's room. She stopped and looked fondly at her baby son in his cot. She had to make a choice. On one side, there was her one month old son that she had no heart to leave. On the other hand, there was a war going on.
Tonks was an Auror and it was her job to fight dark wizards. It made her restless to sit by doing nothing while others risked their lives. This predicament was made even worse by the fact that her husband was out there risking his life too. She couldn't stay here while she was worried sick about her husband and friends. But she couldn't leave her son either. Remus had told her to stay and take care of their son, as he wanted Teddy to have at least one parent in case something happened to him.
But she had a duty as an Auror and member of the Order. Nymphadora Tonks was a fighter. She wasn't one to sit idly by while people died. She couldn't leave Remus to risk his life alone.
She knew Teddy would be in good hands with her mother. Tonks had made up her mind. She would fight in the Second Wizarding war and if luck would have it, Teddy would have both his parents return to him safely. Tonks left a note to her mother before leaving. She chose to leave a note to keep Andromeda from being a doorstop in her decision.
As the door closed behind her, Tonks took a deep breath. There was nothing left to do but survive the coming battle, and return, with her husband, to their son.
